Londoners

I have to say, I have no idea who these people are. I mean, I know they've been teaching for donkey's years, but I've never met anyone who's mentioned their classes.

Weird that...

yEAH, but lets face have you ever met anyone whos heard of me and been to one of my classes? ( and if they did it was probably accompanied by an expletive)

I did meet a teacher called Jorge but he was based in Holland, not the same one.

i was listening to a R4 programme about a guy who does workshops for street performers; tips on how to "control" your audience...and its the crowd who draws the crowd, not the performer! Like the old Marx Bros gag

 Love it. I met an Argentine guy called Julio once, but no, he's not on the list either..

I must admit, I read the guest list for this fest with bemusement. I mean , apart from Zotto, who are these people??! Is there a parallel world of AT performers Ive never heard of who come to visit London? Funnily enough, I do recognise the Finnish couple in the programme. Last I heard of them was probably the last time there was a "London" tango festival - which was about 2003 if memory serves

As for the organizer Takis, I believe he is well known in London tango circles. Well notorious more like :) . Still who knows. In this case he's the organizer rather than a teacher. I do remember the milongas in the evening werent all that bad - or maybe time has softened the edges of my memories...

Anyway, so this is the 5th International London Tango Festival, yes? As opposed to the other dozen International London Tango Festivals we've had this year?

Have I missed something? Yes I believe Takis has the property rights on the "London Festival" name - the other festivals were "festivals with my teacher mates that just happen to be in this wonderful city called London"..

ps "Fifth" means "Fifth ever" - as I say the last one was in about 2003 or so..

It's just that there seem to be loads of "London World Intergalactic tango festivals", you know?

I'm sure we've had three or four this year.

And I'd prefer one proper large-scale "official" one.

Huh. That's a long time between festivals...

But Dave - that would involve groups, like, y'know, putting aside monetary or ego considerations and working together

And I for one have a distrust of large organisations.....

would love to go the Mantove festival though.
Now there are people there i would pay to see dancing...
