Looking for an inexpensive Latin dress for upcoming showcase

Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place. I checked the Dance Ads, but most of the things I saw there were way out of my price range. I'm looking for a dress for my upcoming samba showcase. I want something super sexy. I've shopped around locally, but I have trouble finding sexy dresses that fit my 36DD bust. My waist size is 6/8. Even dresses that fit OK, give me very little chest support. I have a strapless bra, but it's not all that supportive either.

So I'm just wondering if anybody can give me any tips on where to look--either in town or online. I live in the Kansas City area. I'm really hoping I can find something for less than $75. This is just showcase, after all. :)

Don't count on either the dress or a strapless bra for chest support; you need to find a way to sew a bra into your costume. We have a thread on this somewhere...

in that price range I think you are best off to buy a halter style bra and a cheap halter dress from some place like charlotte russe or diva

I hadn't thought of a halter-style bra. Do they make those in DD cups?

Thanks for the replies so far. I find that halter dresses often give me decent support, but most of them have these tiny little triangles that definitely aren't gonna cover me up.

With your proportions I would recommend stocking up on Lingerie tape to be used around the bustline area. A friend of mine (with similar proportions) would wear a halter dress for her showcases and with lingerie tape managed to keep everything in place.

Get a push-up convertible bra. It will come with the straps separate so you can wear it as a strapless, halter, x-strap, whatever. The pushup will give you more support than a regular cup. And you'll get great cleavage :)

Yes, these do come in DD. Just have to search a bit.

Lingerie tape is like clear double sided tape that you can use to stick the fabric to your skin so it doesn't move. I found that it works well for me for just regular casual wear, but not for dancing.

I use a stronger toupe tape for dancing...works pretty well depending on how much tension there is on the spot/fabric.

well...perhaps you should simply consider dancing in a nice dress and bra that you already own and know will support you...for a showcase, it is far better, IMO to dance in something you don't have to worry about...but yes...you can get a good halter bra in that size and/or find a halter dress that has enough built-in support...I know a woman who is double D who dances every week and wears haltar dresses with no problem...and she is not wealthy so I suspect her dresses are in your budget

Do you have her contact info? :) Just kidding.... unless you really do... hehe

For halter/convertible bras, there is definitely a great selection online if you can't find anything in department stores (where Nordstrom is a good bet). Try sites like figleaves, bare necessities, etc. It may sound scary if you have never bought bras online before but it really isn't!

Lingerie tape is good but I know I personally would be super uncomfortable with that as primary support. YMMV!
