The worst thing about the scene is if you don't get the chance to ask the local DJ the title/artist of a particular song that you liked...

This is probably way too little information for any of you to know what song I mean, but I figure if anyone is likely to know, it'd be here!

The song is mostly just a bass plinging away with about 4 notes. Buh puh, bah dah. Buh puh, bah dah. With the occasional drum roll/other instruments. There's a point in which the singer says, "Mambo. Mambo." a bunch of times.

Any hints/suggestions? Better yet, if you can point to a MP3 sample, I can confirm if it's the song I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance.

Any idea what the 4 notes are?

Nope. But the 1st and 3rd notes are the same. The 2nd note is higher and the 4th is lower.

acid from ray barretto comes to mind... could that be it? Not sure about the mambo, mambo... but it's worth a shot...

Nope. I know and have that song...

Hey TJ, is it a song they normally play at Clarendon?
Maybe Tu Tu Ta Ta by Eddie Palmieri,
you might have misunderstood the Tu Tu Ta Ta as
buh Buh Bah Bah. I can bring it to you sometime if you want to check.

I found a sample of a version of the song at
http://www.mp3.com/albums/153195/summary.html
but the version I have and usually here is a bit different.

Hey Vin,

Are you going to La Yuca tomorrow night? I'm probably going to go. I'll give you a call.

I can't load that link since I'm at work, and the site is blocked. I found Tu Tu Ta Ta on the La Perfecta II album, but there's no samples on either Buy.com or Amazon.com. I'll keep looking.

By the way, my description by using those "B" words, was only a description of the way the bass sounds. Not actual lyrics. I can give a better explanation next time I see you.

Thanks!

I am not sure about Yuca yet but I might, definitely will be in touch.
I have been feeling lazy about salsa the last couple of weeks.

Theres a song called "Mambo Mambo" by Lou Bega. It came up in a quick search on google.

Nico

Nope (just listened to it on Amazon), but thank you. I appreciate the suggestion.

Mambochino - you wouldn't happen to have an album of hers with that song would you? Been searching for it on Amazon - no luck so far...
