MAC 2008--Jan 18th-20th

Okay, it might be a little early to start talking about this, but I noticed they have their webpage up so I'm going to take that as permission to start!

I clicked on the schedule link, and I'm confused. It looks like Amateur Championship Latin and Amateur Championship Standard are both Friday night and Saturday night. Are they doing the first rounds Friday and the later rounds Saturday? That's not how the schedule has been set up before. Maybe it's a mistake?

All syllabus events are Saturday daytime, which is unchanged. That has always seemed like a good arrangement, so I'm glad it stayed the same.

Anyone else thinking about MAC?
 
Manhattan Amateur Classic. It is a BIG all-amateur comp in New York City. This year, it will also be NE Regionals for USA Dance.

I was confused over that as well, but when I went to the "registered competitors" page, it looked like the Senior divisions were Friday night, and the Adult on Saturday night. I could be very wrong, however, and would love to know the actual answer! I have MAC penciled into my schedule, and we'll see if I actually make it this year (having MAC as the regionals helped swing the debate!)

Yay! If you come to MAC I'll consider going too. ;-)
 
I second what Joe said--come even if you don't have a partner. It's a great comp as a competitor or a spectator.

I'm definitely going. It is often our favorite comp of the year.
 
We will be there, its always a nice event.. werent sure if we will make it this year, but things slowly lined up :)
 
Yup, always love this event. Now if could only figure out if we will need to take off work on Friday to dance our events on Friday night or if we dance on Saturday, as is usually the case...
 
Looks like the schedule has been updated with age categories, and all of your events are on Saturday evening.
 
Am guessing that we'll be going. Have to double-check our tentative competition schedule, but I think it's a fairly safe bet, barring the unforseeable.
 
half the times I've gone to MAC were as a spectator (even though I had a regular partner to compete with). Sometimes, it's just fun to take a break and watch :)
