USA Dance numbers on the east coast are probably down because of what happened with the New York Chapter. There was the general boycott of MAC, but also a lot of people just decided to stop attending USA Dance events all together. I would've done Mid-atlantic to qualify for nationals, but then nationals moved to Utah. If I'm flying to Utah, I'm going to do BYU, not USA Dance nationals. Many people I know had the same sentiment. Most people I know, including myself, decided not to renew our USA Dance memberships this year. I think this contributed to NEDSC being cancelled. We all highly doubt USA Dance nationals will even exist next year.

Is this something people can talk about on the forum? Before we broke up with our studio, I was surprised to hear rumors that the MAC would be cancelled this year, but when I contacted people directly, it was on. Is there maybe a thread already that people can point me to?

I was wondering as well. I’ve been out of it so long. It was just today that I found the following thread/post. The posts in the linked group were very enlightening.
