Maryland Dancesport Championships 2013

I'm going to be there - it will be my second US comp (we braved Ohio Star Ball as our first) and I'm super excited!
US comps are rather different to UK ones and its a little daunting not having my usual competition companions!

We don't have pro-am for a start so that's a whole different side to competing that I'm getting used to. We also dont tend to have such all together venues and certainly dont have the level of organisation where you check in ahead of heats or have boards telling you what event is running and what's next. You have to work all that out for yourself and hope you dont miss your event!

Does anyone know whether they publish heat lists and round times in advance for this comp? I am trying to work out how early I am likely to dance my first round to determine what time I want to arrive the night before!

they have put heat lists up previously....and you can certainly try to contact the organizer for some sort of rough estimate

Thanks that's really helpful :). I'll be a little more patient and see if they go up at the start of next week otherwise I'll contact the organiser for an indicator of whether we're looking at an 8am start or not!

if you are dancing beginning bronze, you can pretty much bank on that....also if start time is 8 and your first heat is #12....you can pretty much plan on dancing at 8:24(2 minutes per heat)....and the rule is usually that you be in the ballroom 1/2 an hour in advance of your heat time....now, the earlier in the day, the less likely that they are running ahead of time...but it is important to note that they can run your heat any time inside of that half hour

We're dancing open silver and open gold however they seem to appear on the provisional schedule very close to the closed bronze events - and I dont know whether that means they will be close in time or if its deceptive and actually we've got longer than it looks!

I like to be in the ballroom substantially ahead of time to be safe - I dont like emergencies!
