Meeting during comps

well...some of us are more visible than others so it is up to the ones who have been less visible to decide whether or not to approach

People do post about upcoming comps. If you are going to the same one, you can PM and see who would be interested in meeting.

I'd love to meet others. However, after sharing some personal stuff on here, I fear I would be judged, so ill remain anonymous for now.

I have only met one DF'r at a comp so far and I will say for me it was a very cool experience. It might be because she was so easy to talk with, but it was like meeting up with an old friend. She met my family, my friends and my pro. My wife spoke with her for quite a while and is now interested in competing again. Your mileage may differ, but for me it was a great experience. Sbrnsmith, you can't stay anonymous, we've seen your avatar. :)

certainly no one has to meet anyone...and anyone who has shared deeply brings who they are to any face to face encounter...and, as with all interactions, people will form impressions...that being said any judging that people may have made about you regarding what you have posted here has already happened...they just don't have a face to associate it with...if you aren't proud of that stuff and don't want that connection, you don't have to risk it...

Sometimes we PM each other real names, heat lists, etc. Flightco and I both danced Thursday at Windy City so we met up.

You can PM your pro's name and your events. If any other DFer happen to be there, they may be watching and come up to speak to you afterwards.

I enjoyed a dinner with SwayWithMe at a recent comp. I didn't get an opportunity to watch her dance, but the conversation was very enjoyable.

I am totally open to meeting other DF'ers at comps, and I PROMISE not to judge. Shoot.....I was a bit open with sharing during my first few months on DF. I'm in no position to judge anyone.

Meeting SwayWithMe and Gorme at my last comp was such a pleasure!

right...I mean, I think I am hardly anonymous and I have shared...ahem...a great deal...who we are is who we are...if a virtual stranger decides to over reach in their assessment, well, not a big deal...not like I am committing to seeing them on a regular basis...and I can't control what anyone else decides to think
