Menswear - Waistcoat? Performance Shirt?

Hi guys.

I have no money to spend on a good tail suit. I want to save the money I have for more lessons, trying to compete the other dancers in my country that have a lot of years advantage on me.

I haven't had one competition yet and no partner. I dance with my teacher and till now I had 2 shows for the showcases of our studio (Arthur Murray).. I believe, nei, I know I had and have a really good progress.

The problem with the attire is that on the one hand, if I had the money I would have buy a great tail suit maded for me specially.. but for now, I can't see the point. I need something that I would be able to watch my joints.. and a more flexible and comfortable trousers.. it's hard for me to discover what am I doing wrond without the right attire.

Am I right with my decision?

I need to make myself a diet. I am a little bit fat...

What do you guys recommend? a waist coast to get a better look? a performance shirt? where to buy my trousers?

Shoes I bought from Freed of London.. really great shoes I must say.

Thank you in advance.

I would be reluctant to go to the expense of a tail suit until you have:-

1) A regular dance partner
2) Your weight has settled down, if you lose a lot of weight you could end up with expensive alterations!
3) You are committed for the long haul. (a minimum of two to three years).

Put your money aside for your tail suit, a tail suit may enhance your lines and assist in your frame but it won't make you a better dancer. "A broom stick is cheaper"!

Hard work and practice at least 4 hours to every 1 hour lesson, will help you to become a better dancer and trim off a few pounds!

Observe other dancers and learn from their mistakes" i.e. bad lines, make sure you don't make the same!

Use mirrors to observe lines from different angles and to learn what it feels like when you hit the right line "And remember what it feels like, what muscles are being used and how far they are being stretched" etc. etc.

Agreed--don't worry about getting one.

This is correct--but a tailsuit can often hide postural inconsistencies, so you don't want that. Get some dance pants, and a comfortable shirt, that's all you need. Ask good male dancers in your area where they get their clothing, and see what you can find.

Thank you, I will ask.

But for this moment, which company can you guys recommend? maybe they will be able to deliver it to my country. Europe made is always better for me of course.

I don't know if it's important but than again, may be I should write it again.. I dance the Arthur Murray syllabus which mean American Smooth (unfortunately) and not International Std.

Thank you so much.

I asked a friend of mine, a dancer for 14 years, since the age of 6. Now resigned.

She told me that there is no shop in our country which sells ballroom dancing wear.. Sometimes she went to a special tailor.. but she bought the most outside our country.

So.. I can't see another way.. I will do the best to be thin again :)
But for this moment, I still need some clothing.. which company you guys recommend from all over the world?
