Millennium will be broadcasting their competition on TV with proam, am and pro 'stories' as well.
From the website:

's official: this July, ASN will broadcast the Millennium Dancesport Championships on primetime through its Fox, CW and other network affiliates. Airing in three separate 2-hour episodes on three consecutive Saturdays, the broadcast will reach more than 70 million households in the United States!

URGENT: Attention Professional Showdance Competitors

Your music must be pre-approved and licensed by the network in order for you to appear on television. They will need several weeks to complete this task, so please send your song titles and artist names to [email protected] as soon as possible. THANK YOU!

YOU might be the STAR of an ASN story!

The episodes will feature: Pro/Am, Amateur, and Professional competitions; the Millennium Show of Shows; and human-interest stories as well. If you, or others you know, have funny, fascinating or inspirational tales to tell about your life and dance, share them with us!

Yep, having relatives in the music industry and network TV, they are definately more than irritated when their music is played/taped/shown without their permission. Good to know, the rules.

My first thought? OH PLEASE, let there be narrative that is natural to a natural TV host,,,,hmmmm,,,where's Vin Scully when you need him...wink.

From the website expressing a 'human interest story' element, I think it will be a blend of the PBS show plus Ballroom Blitz show.

On the release form for Manhattan, there's one line that says 'This Pro/Am competition will be filmed by TLC.' I wasn't sure if it is a past left-over item from the past for Ballroom Blitz or not. Does anyone know if the same film crew will be at Manhattan this year?

They aren't filming for Ballroom Blitz anymore. That show was not picked up.

I just watched the first episode via American Sports Network. I was very impressed. It had a great commentator panel, showed complete rounds of all the dances, good interviews. I think it was much better than the PBS production.

Only at the end of the Latin finals right now, but some of the dubbed music really irked me when it didn't match the dancers' movements (e.g. the pasos and jive semi), but agreed -- overall, well done, good commentary, much better than PBS.

Also interesting how Ivan Mulyavka turned into Mazen Hamza ... :P (Wrong subtitle in the Latin semi).

There are couple of glitches, which, I am sure will be taken care of. IMHO, overall, the debut of the Dance League was a great production, and and I believe it is a great thing to happen to the Ballroom dancing. Waiting for more:-)

Haha I saw that and was like...wait, they didn't start doing Latin, right?! Though Izabella did used to dance Latin a number of years ago.

Can't wait to see you guys tear it up in the Rhythm competition in the next episodes! :)
