Hi Fellow Competitors,

I've just started doing competitions and I'm going to the Millennium Dancesport in Tampa. Can anyone tell me what their experience has been and how much competition there is? I will be competing in Bronze Rhythm, Ladies A2. Thanks so much for your input.

Hi Papillon

I know a few students at my studio are going, but not me. I wish you the best of luck, though -- and welcome to the forums!

I know a couple folks who've competed there in the past. Hmm... Time for the Rolodex? (or computer-literate version thereof) :?

WElcome to df papillon! Not going myself as street latin is my style... hopefully someone else here is though....anyone?

Maybe Dancing Mommy would know? I really can't remember who among my friends has been. A couple folks. That's for sure. Hmm. :?

I went to spectate in 2002... It seemed like the open divisions were pretty full. I'm not sure how full up the syllabus sections get though.

When you sasy bronze rhythm, are these "one dance" events or multi-dance events? The former seem to never have much competition, while the latter can.

Here's another thing I know.... Our coach is probably going to be ajudicating our comp ion October! EEK! Now I'm REAAAAALLLLY scared. But on the other hand, tonight we had the FIRST run-through of our FoxTrot that didn't end up faltering half-way through! YAY!!!! We've NEVER been able to run a dance from beginning to end with no flub ups. It's a good day. :)

Millenium

I can't help with the specifics of A2 rhythm, but Millenium is usually a very well-attended comp. Michael Chapman does a terrific job with organizing. It has a few date conflicts this year with MD and Northcoast, but I doubt they will affect the overall attendance. I know of a few pros dancing at Millenium and MD.

Good Luck and most of all......HAVE FUN!!!!!

:D

I spoke to Michael Chapman yesterday and it seems that they have about 6000 pro-am entries.I am also amazed at the standard of shows that he has booked for the week-end.By the way congrats to Paul Richardson and his partner for placing 6th in the World Pro Latin last night,Cheers Chris

Michael Chapman asked me to let you know that there are now 7000 pro-am entries at his event. In fact there are going to be 4 rounds in some of the Pro-am scholarships. Also Slavic and Karina are not dancing and have been replaced by Sergey Ryupin and Elena Khuorova .All the best Chris

Millennium

Thank you all so much for your responses and welcoming me to the forum. Judging by the number of entries, it sounds like Millennium will be a great time and there will be many competitors to watch and learn from even if they're in different categories from mine. I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks for the support and when I'm on the floor I'll try to remember I'm there to have fun !!
