A Space Shuttle's main engine weighs about 1/7 as much as a train engine but can deliver as much horsepower as 39 locamotives. (Not that I think those horses would be too happy with that whole Zero G thing :wink: )

On a Canadian two dollar bill, tha flag flying over the Parliament Building is an American flag. (What's up with that?)

Los Angeles's full name is "El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciuncula"...which can be abreviated to just 3.63% of its size as "L.A."

And, to top them all off, an old law in Bellingham, Washington, made it illegal for a woman to take more trhen 3 steps backwards while dancing! (Could someone please explain?)

Actually, we don't have a two dollar bill, we have a two dollar coin with a Polar Bear on it. The flag on the old two dollar bill is the Ontario flag with a Union Jack (British) in the upper left corner. (Parliment is in Ottawa, Ontario) Because the flag is microscopic on the bill it looks like a US flag.

Just making sure the facts are right, the US doesn't own us yet

I wanted to move to Canada a couple of years back, but I couldn't seem to meet the requirements to work their, but I try to go once per year. I love the old capital, Quebec City...beautiful place...never been to Ottawa.

You'd think that—as an academic—I'd know better then to pass along information without verifying it myself! And to think that I actually have Canadian money sitting in my dresser (along with some Danish and some Euros)... :?

Canada is a great country, but today we had our first snowfall, and I live in the southern part of the country, so it will be a good 7 months before I see warm weather again! I guess it gives me a reason to stay inside and practice dance.

Quebec is great, especially if you are looking for a vacation with a European feel, but don't want to travel across an ocean.

I'll have to admit, tango, I've never spent a Winter in Canada.
I will say that nearly all the dancers I meet that are from Canada are wonderful people, and Canada produces some great Ballroom dancers:
Pierre Allaire and Mireaux
John Mark Generoux and Franz Mousou
Alain Doucet and Anik

The only part about Quebec was I felt a little uncomfortable not being able to speak French. It seems there are some politics involved. My favorite places are Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton Island (from my limited excursions).

We did have two dollar bills but that was like in the 80's. I can't remeber the last time I saw a two dollar bill. Especially one with an American flag on it

Miscellaneous Canadian Currency Facts

Canandian bills start at $5.
One dollar coins are called Loonies (picture of the Loone (bird) on the coin)
Two dollar coins are called toonies. Why, because we weren't feeling very creative that day. It has a polar bear.

As I've stated before, I'm always happy to demonstrate anything I know but I'm not a dance teacher (and won't be for years to come, if ever).

Now as far as those coffee beans are concerned, Sarah has agreed to pick them up herself – at some undisclosed future date. I could, however, be persuaded to make the delivery assuming S&H expenses could be arranged. Now how much is a flight... :wink:
