i know someone that did that. When i was little i lived 3 doors down from my grandmother and between our houses lived a vietnam vet and his friend, who we presumed was his partner. Anyway he suffered severe PTSD(post traumatic stress disorder) and one night after watching a war movie he went out on the front lawn, wrapped himself in the american flag, dowsed himself in gasoline, and set himself on fire. He didn't cry or scream...he just stood there at attention holding a salute. I'll never forget the smell that lingered for weeks or watching him burn on the hill on his front lawn. Fortunately i was little enough i didn't understand what was happening. My grandmother planted an apple tree where he burned, its fairly large and healthy and always produced the best apples.

Actually, I was thinking Richard Pryor jokes, but I decided against, in deference to his MS. Before he got sick, he told many a hilarious "I was on fire" joke, referring to the time he was ... on fire, after free-basing cocaine (or was it heroin? I really don't know my controlled substances at all.) :lol: :lol:

What was Richard Pryor sick with? I heard he had a history of substance abuse, but we don't get much news about Richard Pryor over here. Also, what's "MS"? (multiple sclerosis?)

You're right, cocodrilo, MS is multiple sclerosis.

Haven't heard of Richard Pryor for years either, sorry to hear he went through such a bad time. He was a talented comic.

Yeah. Multiple Schlerosis. The last time I saw him on TV, he didn't even look like the same person.

At any rate, he could make the concept of being on fire really funny, as sick as that sounds. Maybe he got away with it because he was telling a true story about himself. *shrug*
