Music editing software for showdance

I am preparing a samba/cha showdance and would like to do some music editing mixing. Is there any good free software out there that someone could recommend?

Third vote for audacity. Pretty good support out there too if you're struggling to do something.

I used nero before I switched to audacity. the nero program is simpler IMO there's a slight learning curve for audacity, but once you get what you want its is quite easy to work with. (sorry, I didn't read the "free" part....maybe a trial version of nero?)

I sometimes hire people to do it for me. It is not too difficult these days to find somebody for a pretty good price online that is a hack at this sort of thing.
