Musicality analysis of Carlitos Esposito and Noelia Hurtado

I think we're discussing different aspects of the same dance. Their dance is artistic, expressive and nuanced, and that's difficult. Well, it's easy when you know how to do it. The steps they are doing are fundamental, which I would say are easy, at least compared to some of the technically challenging stuff we see more flashy dancers doing.

Once I was at rumba dancing lesson, and the teacher said that it is better to make simple stuff nicely than difficult awkardly. 8-)
And it is also important that by watching someone dancing we can relate to that couple.

Dancers dance the way what they can sell, some dance flashy some dance from the soul and from the music. 8-) :D :D

Agreed but I think he was better with Mamie Sancy, especially for milonga

I don't share your opinion.

Noelia raised energy level quite a bit for Carlitos and especially in milonga.
It seems that he is able to express more music nuances with Noelia.

Is it cause of Noelia or cause he matured as a dancer I cannot tell.

Exactly. Really good dancers are able to make difficult stuff look simple, (along with making simple stuff look special). That doesn't change the fact that a lot of what they are doing is difficult, (at least IMO).

I am inclined to agree. I watched them dancing to Pacienca; there is some complex stuff going on there. His awareness of her decoarations which are lighting fast (Nayla Vacca springs to mind) is awesome, his milonguero turns are flawlessly well balanced.

Like el whassisname said; "a lot of stuff in tango is difficult and complex, but if you want to do stuff in a show, then you put in flashy moves which are visually impressive, but not really so difficult."

Nonsense; he's had to reign in his energy level. Noelia is a beautiful dancer, but I think she's a ball and chain for Carlitos..I don't think he's ever had any problems expressing nuances.
He's had to work hard to let her fit in her decorations, which I think works fine, but at what cost?

I believe that adaptions went both ways.

I saw a few videos of Carlitos prior to dancing with Noelia.
The decorations she often does dancing milonga is brought by Carlitos.

Noelia seems to me more expressive than his previous partners, just that. ;)

I just joined, and although I dont really enjoy tech analysis of tango, your discussion made me jump in... although its bit late comment in this thread;)
I completely disagree anyone who says that Carlitos' & Noelias' dancing is simple. Its very complex. Yes, looks easy like all the difficult things made with great proficiency. Perhaps because we don't see many ganchos and other cheap show tricks etc. But their dancing is super-speedy, perfectly balanced, while both have space to play and suggest. Also, they very often dance on the nearly full range of the particular music, beat + melody and pronounce different instruments. Guys, there is nothing simple here, see how Noelia accentuates the rhythm and how Carlitos leads many even barely noticeable adornos.... The lady has probably a pair of nearly fastest feet among tango professionals at the moment. Like Geraldine before baby. Like Andrea Misse before tragic accident. But luckily Noelia has her own style so she is there in the list in her own right.

I also find that Carlitos contains her beautifully and the flow of energy between them is intense, fresh and genuine. He contains, controls but gives space underlining her strengths. Really amazing. I think Carlitos has upped his energy a lot and his dance is completely another lever compared to when he danced with Mamie. Not that he was somehow uncapable before, I just think he met his equal match and even a bit of a challenge.

Mamie is a very beautiful dancer, such joy to watch, but different level compared to Noelia completely. Mamie is still a social dancer, amazing, natural talent, fast learner, but hobby dancer. She has a vocation, tango is not her first calling. Noelia is a professional, with many more years of experience. There is a clear difference in speed, precision and vocabulary. And what's the most exciting about this new tango couple - Carlitos & Noelia, they've established their style and quality in a very short time. In a year, thats pretty unusual, really looking forward to see how they grow together!

Nice comments...

I agree. I love their dancing.

Their dancing is musical, nuanced, full and rich. If you have a good eye, I think you can see it. If you're looking for fanciness, there are better examples elsewhere. Not that those "better" examples are really better.
