What this is most likely to be; their tempos are different, but the vocals are too similar to not be the same, and there are specific instrumental phrases by the bandoneon and the piano that are exactly the same to my ears.

Why does the first one sound so muddy? And artificially slow?

No idea; that video was posted over a decade ago, probably recorded on some device with less than ideal capabilities, which should account for the muddy sound quality. I can only speculate that they're using a bad transfer, or for some reason the file they have is slowed down.

I looked at another performance of theirs from the same event, and La vida es corta sounds exactly the same as it does now.
