hey all! im new to the forums,

i recently turned 19 (on Oct 1) and since im in Canada i can get into clubs now... my girlfriend of almost 2 years has been looking forward to my birthday for so long because now she can take me out dancing.

heres my problem, ive never really been a dancing kind of guy but i think i have potential to be an average dancer. i need some help on the do's and dont's on dancing at clubs so i dont look like an idiot.

ive read the sticky on grinding and club dancing and pretty much understand the whole getting the rhythm down then bending your knees allowing your hips to sway to the beat.

my girlfriend and i are really close and this is just something we want to do for fun, we arent worried about impressing each other like other couples on a date would be (i would obviously still like to though lol  )

anyways is there anything else i need to know? im not looking to dominate the dance floor or anything, just not look bad lol.

any help would be greatly appreciated

P.S. what is proper club dancing attire?

If I were you when you and your girlfriend got to the club. I would watch people dancing for a minute or more. Sometimes you'll see some moves you like and will be sure you can do it. Maybe go to the restroom for a minute and try it out discreetly, while checking it in the mirror. If it looks cool when you try it then use it when you start dancing. You can also pick moves from various people and combine it. When you do dance focus on your girlfriend or maybe even imitate her moves. Remember to have fun and happy birthday

Just have fun! What to wear? Comfy clothes you can move in, synthetics if you're planning on cuttin' th' rug and sweating a bit(synthetics dry fast and in dark colors they usually don't show sweat), comfy shoes. Bring a hanky or small towel for sweat wipin'(we all do this, no need to be embarrassed if you sweat!) And ample deodorant application beforehand, for sure!

the proper thing to wear is a pair of fattys (flairs for those of you not in the oz rave scene) and shoes with leather soles so you can shuffle and slide

A fellow Libra! 8) Happy birthday and welcome to DF! :D

Don't worry too much about going to the clubs. As you say, you'll be with your girlfriend so there's no need to even think about impressing others (IMO you should never do that anyway, no matter who you're with or not with - it's the quickest way to unnerve yourself.)

Just wear something cool and comfortable, relax and have fun.

Rosa :)
