need some advice. big moment next month

next month is my birthday its also our national compition. they actually fall on the same day to. well while i'm away at this comp, i would like to propose to my girl. my girl is also my dance partner. i'm completely and utterly in love with her. i just think this is the right time to do it. i'm alittle scared but ready to do it. does anyone have any advice at all? i'm looking for any i can get. thanks

Is she going to the comp with you? A lot of my thoughts are contingent on that.

And, just in general, having received some real marriage proposals in my life (plus three tongue-in-cheek DF proposals LOL) romantic is the way to go, with most women I know. I bet you're nervous about it and want to play it down, but don't. I'm not suggesting you have to be elaborate about it or spend lots of money. Bigger isn't necessarily better. But be romantic, whatever that means to your girfriend.

Well, don't do anything like in the middle of your bolero whisper in her ear, "I love you madly and want to marry you." Because she'll miss your lead, you'll come in last in the heat, do badly at the comp and get into a big fight over it. Don't ask her as you're waiting to go into the semi-finals either! :lol:

hey everyone thanks for the advice. nationals is in chcago so after the heats and at the end of the evening i know a spot where we can go and i can ask. i wouldnt bother asking while dancin, although it would be romantic.
we havent ever discussed marriage. my plan is to take her parents to dinner a week before the comp and hopefully get there blessing. once i have that i will ask her while we are away. i already have the ring so hopefully things will go as planned. wish me luck
