Need Some Dance Advice

Hi All,

Found this forum in the past and I found the 43-page-long grinding thread quite helpful - hehe.

Anyways, my school is planning to ban grinding because it's provocative (even though its quite tame at my school). But anyways, I'm not much of a dance and I'm looking for a different way to dance with someone to hip-hop.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Hi Dan. Welcome to DF!

Have you considered hip hop lessons? If you can find a good instructor in your area, you'd be able to learn more than enough to look great on a dance floor.

Also, if you have questions about hip hop, in general, check out our sister forum. (http://www.danceforums.net) You'll be able to find hip hop dancers there who could definitely help you out.

Best of luck!

Hi, and thanks for the welcome!

The whole lessons thing sounds great, but this dance is on Friday! I would love to get some advice.

Cheers,

Dan

Welcome to DF dandude22...unfortunately, I'm not sure how many responses you will get due to the fact the majority of dancers here are not hip-hop dancers. I can only think of two posters right off hand that I know are hip-hop dancers.

Best of luck to you. Hopefully someone will be along that might be able to suggest something for you...

The general type of dance you are doing is often called freestyle. You could probably search on that. Grinding is just one portion of the dance. So think about how you are moving to the music and interacting with your partner while you are not grinding and you pretty well have a plan for this weekend.
