Who else is going? It'll probably be the first competition of the academic year for my Smooth and Rhythm partners and me, probably Gold/Novice Smooth and hopefully Prechamp/Champ Rhythm if my partners and I can get our butts into gear!

The dates are 28, 29, 30 September 2012.
Registration and Ticket Sales are open
It's a dot org url beginning with nedancesport

I don't see it on the website either, but the entry form on o2cm reads:

Each competitor must register for the competition.

Registration fee is $85 per person for Adult Events and includes Admission Ticket to Session/s your event/s is danced in, dinner on Saturday evening and your choice of one workshop in Session I/Friday. The fee per couple for each event is $20 for Syllabus and Open Events and $5 per event for Newcomer Events.

Under 19 Registration Fee is $40 per person and includes Admission Ticket to Session 4 and the option to purchase an additional 4 pack of Admission Tickets to Session 4 for $25. Syllabus and Open Events are $10 per couple. Newcomer Events for all Under 19 age categories are no charge after Registration Fee is paid.

Note: Newcomer, Nine Dance, Ten Dance and Showdance are not USA Dance sanctioned events.

I'm not going to the comp, so I didn't actually click through to see what it would actually charge, but I assume that note is accurate. :-)

I'm pretty sure that's accurate...and the reason I won't be going. Way too expensive for a first year comp in my opinion.

I didn't realize it includes dinner and a workshop entry! My partner and I were wondering why it seemed so expensive.

Yeah, $105 to do two events is way too much for me. Ballroom entry is expected at a non-NDCA comp. I don't really consider that a perk.

Huh, what's even crappier is you're paying $20 per event, but you get 2 dances for Bronze, 3 for Silver, 4 for Gold, 3 for Novice, 4 for Pre-champ, and 5 for Champ (4 for Champ Smooth of course). Obviously Champ is going to include them all, but shouldn't half as many dances get some sort of entry fee break? And Newcomer is $5 per dance, with 3 dances offered per style (except Latin with just 2), so that's a maximum of $15 per event. And Newcomer Intl Foxtrot  Really?!?

Definitely on the more expensive side for a USADance comp. The fact that the entry fees include dinner tells me that the organizers have a more social perspective. There are plenty of amateur couples in the Boston area alone to make this a successful comp. The problem is they are used to paying a lot less money for unlimited entries. Another issue is that the vast majority do not have a USA Dance membership so that's another cost on top of the high entry fees. Not sure the organizers thought this through.

We decided not to go after all. I couldn't find a flight schedule that worked for us, and the registration fees are high. We have a competition in our home town the following weekend anyway that's also a NQE.
