New Tango Reality Show

YES! I love Black Adder. :o

I have a cunning plan!!

How about we infiltrate the BBC and get the professional ballroom dancers on Strictly Come Dancing/ Dancing with the Stars to compete in more 'natural' dances, AT, salsa etc and they get us lot to judge them. Then for the pro sections, we get Chicho, Eugenia, Pablo to perform.

Turn it on it's head a bit?!

Oooooh, I LOVE it!

Teachers aside, I wonder how they are casting the rest of the show (I assume they will show shots of various dancers, milongas, etc.) I hope they are casting the rest of the 'fillers' in BsAs, not London. Because in my experience living in LA when they were doing a salsa movie there - it was hell at the dances for about 3 months when everybody started dancing really BIG to try to get cast when the scouts were going around (or there were rumours of such). The same already goes in London at the jazz classes at Pineapple, where there are often rumours of talent scouts. I don't know if there are or if there aren't, but one is likely to get kicked by people dancing BIG just the same.

Said dancers I am told are going to be total novices so no, wouldn't have thought they would be scoutting the milongas.

There was a one-off TV show about dating and so C4 decided to hit the whole meeting people thing at a tango scene. Friday night at Negs saw a big cameracrew and even "bigger" regular dancers - ha, ha, ha.

I remember that! We were asked to come downstairs with them where they were filming as it looked "too empty" on the dance floor. Eh, no thanks.

I suspect you could find out if you were to email said teacher.

It would not be The Moves Monster, would it?

AT takes years to master, but if you were to teach novices in order to put them on tv, you would have adopt the SCD format of teaching set routines to impress. Did you see Vincent and Flavia? all my non-tango friends think that their dancing looks great, but I can hardly contain my ... indifference.

Reality shows? No .... Showoffs and voyeurs!

Can't understand why the *continuing* bad press about Vincent & Flavia. Interestingly all, it seems, emanating out of the amateur/average tango world of milonga! Hmmm!

There is a joke about a Manx fisherman unloading his catch of crabs onto the quay in bucket. A tourist watching says shouldn't you have a lid on that bucket, and the fisherman replies;" They be Manx crabs; as soon as one gets a a leg over the side as sure as eggs is eggs one of the others will pull him back in."

Maybe we're dancing Manx tango and don't like to see anyone get too good;)

Ha, ha, ha. Superb. And never a truer and more apt adage given. :notworth:
