Hey there guys, this is my first post. My name is David and I live in louisiana. I am definitely new to dancing but it has always interested me. First off let me say, I absolutely suck at dancing, that is one reason I want to start dancing. And by saying "i suck at dancing" I mean the kind at like high school dances. lol Where you're supposed to "feel the beat". I love dance and dancing but I am terrible at it. So therefor I want to start the real type of dancing to try to help me out a bit. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what type I should start in? Thanks everyone for the help.

Yes welcome to DF smokeyjoe!

Are you mostly interested in partner dancing? If so, like Larinda mentioned, swing and salsa are a good place to start.

If you're interested in mostly social dancing, there's also argentine tango and some studios offer some type of "social sampler" type class (usually a bit of american smooth and swing).

If you are interested in competition, that's a whole 'nother ball game where you can get in to International Standard and Latin, and American Rhythm and Smooth.
