Next Generation Swing Club

I was at a WCS event on Wednesday and a few people asked me if I was going to the Next Generation Swing Dance event that was happening on Saturday.

I looked into it, and it sounds interesting so even though it's way out of my way, I'm going. However, I was hoping that SOMEONE here might have been to this event (it's a monthly thing) before and be able to tell me what to expect!

The event is here:

It starts at 6 pm! I am definitely entering the "luck of the draw" competition, I love the concept, but I totally cannot get there at 6. (I work until 5, almost an hour and a half away.) Is that bad?

In general, what sort of people attend these kinds of events? Am I going to get bored after a few hours, or is there a large crowd?

I've been trying out a bunch of new WCS venues and there's always something I wish I had known before I went, in every case. If anyone who has been there reads this -- what was that "I wish I had known this..." moment for you?

Sorry, I know this is a silly post but ... if I gain one tidbit of information from it, I will be happy!

Yes, I would strongly encourage you to check it out. A variety of dancers, everyone from experienced novice WCS competitors as well as first timers too, participate in the "Luck of the Draw" contest. It is GREAT practice for everyone. A variety of dancers attend the monthly event.

Thank you, Dancegal, and thanks to the PMs I have received as well (going to reply to them when I have a sec -- work is busy today.)

I am looking forward to it, normally Saturdays are my "day off" from dance, but I think if this is fun I might make an exception once a month.

By the way... to anyone in the Bay Area who is into WCS, this was definitely a worthwhile way to spend a Saturday, even if you do have to drive the S-curve over the Bay Bridge. :P
