Ohio Star Ball Schedule Problem

Amateur Championship Standard was previously listed on the tentative schedule in the 1pm session on Saturday. We bought plane tickets based on that. We arrive on the first flight of the morning at 9:55am.

Now the heat time for the first round is posted as 11:30am!! We were cutting it close before, but now it seems that our chances are slim to none of actually making it there in time to dance in our one and only event that we're registered for.

I'm curious, is anyone else in our same situation? I'm thinking that an appeal to the mercy of the organizers will be better received if the problem impacts more people. Please let me know if anyone is in this same situation.

Yes, we are but then again you already know that!:) I will do what I can - should I email them too?

I think that the more people that contact them, the more likely they are to make it a priority. I don't want to pester them, but I think it will only be important to them if they know it impacts a significant number of people. So yes, I would suggesting emailing and/or calling them too.

That really stinks. I hope it gets worked out somehow so you can make it. Otherwise you may have to be in full regalia on the plane.

Nice new avatar, Ithink.

I was already planning to have my hair done on the plane. Now it looks like I may have to do hair and makeup at home at 5am, wear it all on the plane, hope and pray the plane lands on time, make sure not to check any bags, grab a taxi and RUN onto the comp floor with no warm up! I should only be so lucky that my plane would even be on time and we could be able to run on the floor at all.

I just spoke to someone on the phone who basically told me there is nothing that can be done. At best they *might* be able to give me a credit for my entry fee towards next year if I don't make the event, but that isn't even her decision. And it's peanuts compared to the travel cost anyway. She mentioned that they have a waiting list to get into this event, so I don't think they're too worried about people not being able to come. They had to move the event up based on a conflict with the room or something.

I still wonder if more people calling up with the same problem might make a difference??

Have you tried changing your flight. I was lucky enough to get Delta (I think) to waive the change fee under similar circumstances once.

Plan B is to change the flight I guess. But it's the first flight of the morning, so that means coming in the night before. The flights on Fri are more expensive, so even without a change fee I'll have to pay more, plus an extra night in the hotel. Any way you cut it, I'm out some money here.

At least you can run right upstairs to the hall, unlike last year when we had to explore deep into the cavernous convention center to find Am Champ Standard!

Yeah, I was reassured in my decision to fly in Monday when I saw that the Tuesday start time had been moved up to 3pm instead of 4:30 (I have Monday off from work, so I figured why not.) Only now I'm going to be worrying about my pro getting there on time!

Seriously, was now a good time to reorganize all the schedules?

With these kind of time slide changes, I'm thinking it means that the competition is going to be massively huge.

Good luck in everyone getting there okay!

As far as I can tell from the schedule, there's a BIG gap between the 1:40pm Champ final & the evening session at 6 or 6:30pm.

Anyone care to explain?

Boy, dancing at 11:30am, that's awfully early for Champ standard! And I want to stay up to watch Friday night standard shows!!!

Yeah, that was my query when I first discovered this. It's like W.T.F--why have the "afternoon" session (or The Session Formerly Known As the Afternoon Session) end before 2 when the next session doesn't start for 4 more hours? Do the TV people need that much time to set up their shizzle, and why can't they begin doing it while the comp is still running?
