Peer-criticism in teaching

This is a very interesting read. Instead of focussing on the merits of this specific instance of criticism by the author of certain teachers, I'm curious to hear thoughts in general about open commentaries of teachers by other teachers (thus General Dance Discussion over AT forum seemed appropriate).

I personally think that this is a very valuable thing when done sparsely, and responsibly.

While such individually targeted criticism may have value, it's not very classy, IMO. The same value can be provided without naming names. To be honest, I'm not comfortable with teachers offering their "opinions" on their peers in private, even, it is so heavily colored by their personal relationship with the peers in question.
