Hi bvadancer and welcome to Dance Forums! I do not know which time zone you are in but a lot of the US people may be either finishing work/going into classes so please be patient.

Can you say anything more about the type of song you are looking for other than it has to be able to incorporate pointe/ballet and tap? (It two quite different rhythms therefore you may have to do some music mixing...)

 :nope:  (I see you have been taking lessons from DP!

pointe = ballet (or contempary dance) where the female dancer (and some male dancers now!) go on to their toes. (Based on my own dance knowledge)

bvadancer, for some reason, Frank Sinatra's New York, New York and Fly me to the moon came to mind. They are slow enough (in my mind's voice  ) to do balletic movements (including pointe work) yet fast enough to do tap to. What do you think? Or are you looking for something a bit more, ehem, modern

I am looking just for any song you think could incorperate both pointe and tap..... it really doesn't matter what type just as long as both can fit...all your suggestions are greatly appretiated and i will look up those two songs

Yeah, I think many songs by crooners from the 1940s or 1950s would fit the bill. Something like "Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin happened to jump to the front of my mind.

Michael Buble or Steve Tyrell?

not their remakes but their original work. that would be more modern but in the same flavor as the oldies.

How modern do you want?

There is a song called Shackles by Mary Mary circa 1999/2000?

Or, you could perhaps listen to selection of Britney Spears/Kylie Minogue and then try and have the songs speeded up/enhanced so that you can mix the two dances?

"Oops I did it again" by Britney Spears. It's most of the time rythmic (for tap) but has somewhere in the middle a slower part where she's just talking softly (for pointe)

Don't have a specific music suggestion...but upon reading this thread I immediately thought of the film White Nights with Baryshnikov and Hines...the dance numbers are a blend of ballet and tap...
