Post-dance euphoria

i have various stock things i say after an amazing dance, some of them specific to specific partners. with one leader i know we always p retend to freak out at the end of the dance and say OH MY GOD YOU ARE THE BEST!

NO YOU ARE!

NO YOU ARE!

etc.

i have another one with whom i always dissolve into a deep dip and extended embrace. he likes to carry me off the floor and i have a feeling if i didn't wear a skirt every time, he'd happily throw me over his shoulder.

Sometimes an intense look, no words, can be the equivalent of saying I love you out loud. After all, salsa is the epitome of nonverbal communication;) There was also one time when I was in a sad mood, but went out dancing to cheer me up. A friend who I only see through salsa asked what was wrong, he could tell that I was sad, even though I was trying to hide it. He read me better than my own family! I was touched by his concern. Of course, then he tried to get me to go home with him, and that brought me back to reality. heeheehee...So, apparently salsa can bring out many emotions. Euphoria for me is that perfect connection you weren't expecting on a hot sweaty dance floor.

went to another one of those excellent socials lastnight and after a particularly awesome dance i did what Vin said he's done after a really great dance.
we were just ectastically hugging each other, celebrating when I blurted out (for the first time ever to a dance partner) "I love you"
I don't often truly laugh out loud when I read this forum, but I have to say that the mental image of africana in that situation made me do so!

I haven't ever blurted out the "L" word at the end of a dance. My usual reaction after a really great dance with a stranger is to get more chatty (like asking more questions about her dance background, etc.), or with a regular partner to make a remark like, "Now THAT was really good!" I don't tend to sit out the next dance to savor the moment (like a few of you have indicated) -- I just want to keep on dancing and moving! I can savor the moment on the drive home. ;)

If you were a guy, then I would say you've obviously never had a girlfriend before! However, since you appear to be a woman, I'll just say...."you're not like most women." ;)

It's a rare dance where I get that level of euphoria, that's what makes it so special.

I've done the same thing everytime:

* Hug my partner and laugh.
* Feel temporarily dazed and not knowing exactly what just happened.
* Retreat to a corner of the room, sit down, relax, and smile.
* Eventually rejoin the dancers.
oh yeah...I have actually left the venue after a really really good one so that no other dance would tarnish the memory.
but that happens very rarely since I want to make the most of my $$ :raisebro: at the very least I would take a few days to weeks break away from dancing to make sure I forget a great night. Otherwise going out too soon can be depressing...

I also waste too much time daydreaming the next day. sometimes I'll go running/exercising to clear my head

When I leave immediately after a really really good dance, I have trouble sleeping because I'm just too fired up :(

i'd have trouble sleeping anyway ;0 but yeah it makes me energized to dance more sometimes :)

(we almost sound like we're complaining that salsa is just *too* much fun lol!)

Usually I go out dancing with my two best female friends. On the car ride home (45 minutes) we normally talk everythinke over that happened that evening. If we can do it because some male friend came along with us, we have a conference phone call next morning.

Okay, so what do you say about us?
