pre-competition disorder

Oh... my..... I should have checked what my over enthusiastic husband entered us in. I assumed when he said things verbally, he was entering us in OUR age group only. But. No. He entered us in two age groups... for everything. Ouch. OUCH!

I hope I will not be DEAD on Friday for my pro-Am smooth.

Enthusiasm! Love to see it!
Well... yeah.... But I have all my pro-Am stuff AFTER I dance with Jim.
You know the term "whales" in poker? You know the "World Dance Sport Series"? The one you win mostly by entering a ton of heats.... I'm pretty sure I know two Orcas are going to be standing in that line. . .

He's not making the same "two age group" mistake in our next comp.

Haha, yeah.

I laugh partly because I'm always pushing to do the same thing with my partners. Every event, every style, every eligible age group...so I see both sides of it!

Definitely replenish and fuel up after your Am heats and have your electrolytes ready to go on Friday.

It's sounds exhausting but fun. When it's all said-and-done - enjoy a ridiculously large bowl of pasta at dinner and wine. You've earned it!
Husband is fixing pasta tonight. Wine will be Friday. And saturday.

Pro and his wife resume their pro-pro competing Saturday. I'm going to be there! :)

Me: "It's too early to be posting to the pre-comp disorder thread." Checks calendar - holy smokes, we are only ~2 weeks away. (!!!!)

Registration has been submitted and paid for (both pro-am and am-am entries), hair/makeup appointment requested, and I just printed my packing list. Time to start filling the travel-size toiletry bottles and gathering the dresses and accoutrements. Probably too late to order anything I don't already own.

I've probably lulled myself into a false sense of security, but at this point I don't have much anxiety about my comp routines themselves. I've been doing the bronze international ones for 2 years now, so it's just nitpicky details I may or may not get while being admonished to quit looking like I'm social dancing. The rhythm ones are newer but now have a few extra months on them since last time. Above all else, I'm just working hard to keep my eyes/chin up (I'm a floor gazer).

I had one of those comp nightmares last night... the details are fuzzy now, but the usual, trying to get to the floor where I'm supposed to be on time and either struggling to find it or running late.

OK whine here... so the one hair vendor who has truly figured out my hair is passing her business onto someone else, so I have to train someone new on my hair. Fingers crossed they get it. I have no idea if this will help, but I'm planning to print (literally, on paper) two collages - one of "good" hair examples, one "bad", that I hope can be used as reference (I'm starting to think a quick glance at my phone pics is not always cutting it).

Whine #2.... Saturday night of the comp is night 1 of WrestleMania. Tough choices lie ahead, whether to stay and watch the evening program (I'll be on package, and I especially like the Pro Rhythm and Latin heats) or go back to my room for a different (but not that different) sort of spectacle.

Good luck with the new hair vendor! (And with the comp, I'm sure it will go great.) If the printouts work, laminate them.

You sound ready. So 'Let's go!', fellow floor gazer and "try" to not look like I'm social dancing club member! (I feel like I'm in good company now.) :D

I wish you all the necessary discernment and wisdom in your choices. I'm sure you'll make the right one for you. (You've spoken often about your love of wrestling so this has got to be a hard choice.)

Three days to comp.....

On the bright side, I'm 90-95% packed. One more lesson today, hopefully I can keep him on track to run rounds and give quick feedback, and away from long explanations and the 3rd "here watch one more time" (not helpful, I need to DO it, this is not a movie).

Disorder... OK so that brilliant idea I had to make a hair collage: I ordered it like 2 weeks ago from an online photo print shop (I use them all the time) but it has still not arrived. Checked shipment tracking today and ETA is Thursday by 9:00 (original ETA was yesterday). Nope, not going to cut it, so I just spent more money to have it printed locally at a pharmacy (which I didn't do the first time, because you can only get glossy at the pharmacy and I prefer matte).

Also... I know a watched kettle doesn't boil, but come on let's have some heat lists already. The NDCA needs to set up a rule about this lead time... my pro is young enough that he was shocked (shocked!) when I told him heat lists used to come out a week (!!!) before hand. I swear we are headed to, heat lists released at 6:00 a.m., you dance at 8:00 a.m.

I agree! I was amazed when the heat lists for our comp on Saturday were available yesterday!
