pre-competition disorder

How can I be both simultaneously jealous of people that are at comp this weekend and nervous/feeling not quite ready for mine two weeks from now? Contradiction much? Sheesh.

I was feeling really good, even with our intention to up-level again, then had my fairly traditional pre-comp rough dancing day this week (it was a few days to a week earlier than normal - is that progress?), so now I'm a little nervous. Pro and I figured out what was off and fixed it, but the 45 mins or so it took for us to figure it out increased my stress level exponentially... and his stress about not being able to identify the issue, which I could feel despite him trying to hide it, did not help keep me in the calm happy place.

And I broke a nail yesterday, so I guess my nails will be on the shorter side this time, because I hate the fakes :(

Ditto on the fakes. Just had to trim all mine to accommodate two bad breaks. Hoping two weeks is long enough for them to grow out enough - and that I don't break any more along the way (any preventative measures I can take for that?).

I was also reminded last night that it's just about time for the pre-comp nightmares to start... yay pre-comp disorder!

I'm wearing clear nail polish for the next 2 weeks, and trying to remember to do cuticle oil at night... and also hoping 2 weeks is enough for them to grow out a bit. Trimmed them all, but the one that broke is really short :(

Nailtiques works for me, unless I do something like, say, smash my hand into a wall cabinet.

Thanks! I'll have to see if I can pick some up at CVS.

Right on cue! But last night was a first: I didn't have a nightmare about the comp in two weeks. Rather, the nightmare involved missing a flight for the comp AFTER that. Hooboy...

I've read this thread and I'm pretty concerned. I didn't get nervous or nightmares or anything before the three comps that I've done. At one of them I got a bit jittery because I hadn't had anything to eat that day, but that's it.

Is there something wrong with me? Is there anyone else that doesn't get this? Or is something you get when you get more advanced?

Not everyone gets them. And there are different reasons why people do or don't get them . Having been a competitive athlete I know how to channel my energy constructively . So I Have precomp excitement personally

it's weird with me...I can be fine...or I can be fine til the moment that I get on deck and then quake through the first set....or I can be uptight the night before....it varies...which is really worse than it being the same all the time

Well, my pre-comp jitters started two weeks ago, when GS #2 LEAPED into my entire standing up body and we both landed on my coffee table (me catching GS so he wouldn't get hurt and me taking the bunt of it) - then going to lesson for comp - only to find the ankle is not cooperating at all, and neither is the bottom tendons of my foot,,,,My Tango is a white hot mess as I can't seem to remember either corner pattern....and Pro continues to change "little" things that my brain, at 3 a.m. in the morning, decides that it's time to DREAM BIG about how I will mess this up and yet keep smiling. UGGGHHH. 3 more sessions to go...and the nerves are really acting up.

Looked at pre-comp videos of my patterns with Pro. Used regulation - time length for music and didn't even get to 3 corner before music is over. Pre-comp jitters prayer...maybe we won't get their and the white hot mess won't show up!
Pro askes about wearing white shoes with new dress...uhhhhhhh. Their beautiful,,,but...really,,,I've never been at a stand still about my shoes?!!!
Trying to teach myself not to "THINK" about my patterns,,,I do so much better when I "just dance it"...thinking is my own self-destruction apparently.
fingers crossed everything comes together today and tomorrow.
