pre-competition disorder

Mild panic for comp this weekend starting to set in; I only finished choreography this past weekend, and still have performance/energy choices to make per coach's homework assignment. And then I still need to rehearse the blasted stuff so it's actually in my body come competition day...good thing it's all syllabus so it's not too hard to remember! (And only two styles where I can get away with quite a bit of crossover between styles and levels).

Wow I was anxious over nothing a couple days ago...officially flipped to excited for this comp rather than terrified, can't wait to get a chance for my hard work the past couple months to show up on the floor!

Nationals in a little over a week and can't practice with my partner this week, as I am out of town on spring break. Getting antsy! But I did have a couple of awesome lessons, so hopefully some of that can be put into use ASAP.

Wishing that the hotel had some place to practice to reduce the amount of driving that could be done this weekend. Partner is staying at the hotel but will be in early enough we could practice on Friday. I have to go up there to register the team Friday night. But there's nowhere to practice at the hotel. So he could drive down here to practice. But I still have to go up there to register. Or not and deal with registering at 6 AM. (The odd things that go through your brain when a comp is coming up).

Heat sheets came out unusually early for my upcoming competition...and as usual I had panic/anxiety/etc. at seeing my name associated with a large NDCA comp, but, on the bright side, I seem to be recovering much more quickly than usual. I just started doing NDCA comps last summer, though I have been doing franchise competitions for a few years. To a certain extent, doing the NDCA comps makes the franchise ones less nerve-wracking, but my next franchise competition is mid-August and I'm competing in rhythm...and I haven't had a lesson in rhythm for almost a year (and no, it's not that I've been doing latin instead, just smooth). Thus, I can't quite make up my mind whether I should be more nervous about the very near NDCA comp or the 6 week away franchise comp that includes rhythm. The indecision seems to be diluting my nervousness about both of them. I hope it stays that way!
