pre-competition disorder

Same! I'm either driving to Charlotte or Atlanta for competitions that have more than a handful of folks on the floor. The travel really adds to the competition cost. I keep thinking about moving back to the NY or Boston areas...it would be so nice to compete locally!
I'm driving up 5 hours to Boston for my comp next weekend...already not looking forward to the drive lol

I couldn't find a post comp thread
For future reference:

oof here it is, thank you!!
I distinctly remembered seeing it but i couldn't find it for the life of me lol

Do I really, REALLY need to pack a backup rhythm dress and a backup smooth dress? I’ve done so at the previous 3 comps I traveled to, but I’ve never needed to use one; and the reason they are only backup dresses is that I don’t like them much anyway.

Both my actual comp dresses will be with me in my carry-on luggage. Packing two extra heavy dresses in my checked suitcase… they take up a lot of space and add a lot of weight. I just really don’t want to mess with it this time.

But I’m not a gambler. What are the odds that I will be sorry if I don’t bring them?

I have never brought an extra dress and keep mine in my carry on as well so they don’t leave my side. I bring a tiny sewing kit and safety pins. Never had to use those either.

Having had a variety of wardrobe malfunctions over the years, and knowing women who have had issues, including getting a complete cup of hot coffee spilled all over the front of her dress, I always bring backups. Just one less thing I have to stress about. I never have a problem finding a nice person to help me deal with the luggage.

On packing: My self tan mousse decided to spew out it's entire contents while in the luggage. This was in the car-- not even a depresurrisation issue. Fortunately, it was in a zip lock bag which held all the take just fine. I will continue to put potentially leaky things in double bags. I will be putting my dresses inside large sealed garbage bags. Same for my shoes.

A friend told me she had a similar issue with her white comp dress- but it did get spray tanned. She wore her black one. The white dress now has green stains that can never be removed.

One of my nightmares, for sure…
