hello,

Could please someone provide me a videoclip or a good description of the casino rueda step named: "Tocale la T".

Thanks,
casino

Yikes! Everything out there is either in Spanish, or just a step list. Any luck, peachexploration? Juliet's party is tomorrow, btw. Maybe this time I can actually make it.

Welcome to DF casino!! I have checked serveral sites and don't see the step that you named. I will try and look later, but I don't know any Spanish so it's tough for me to do so.

However, since you are interested in rueda our rueda thread called rueda, might be worth a look.

I'm guessing that you are interested in salsa... Do you do any other dances?

Well Casino, after looking most of the most of the morning, I could find the move but not a description or video clip. :( It's included on mostly the intermediate/advanced levels of a syllabus and websites tend not give those moves away. They mostly show beginning steps or lower end intermediate clips. Sorry I couldn't help. :? Tocale la T or Touch the T or Touch her with the T. Sounds like a cool move. :P

Thanks the only description I found on the web was here:

But the description is too terse...

Well, I also dance Zouk/Kizomba and Merengue.

But right now I am interested in learning Miami style Casino Rueda steps.
Unfortunately, here in Portugal no one dances that style.

We have schools that teach Rueda but they seem to teach their own versions of the steps/calls, so it is not useful if you want to dance with people from, say, Miami.

I am thinking about buying some video tapes: salsaracing and salsalovers seem to be very good tapes. What do you think?

In the mean time, I have learned some steps by repeatedly watching videoclips I downloaded from the web:
- www.salsacasino.com - I wish Julián Mejía lived in Portugal!!!
- http://www.salsa-rueda.de/index_clip.php - From here it is easier to learn

Zouk!! It's also called Kizomba!!?! First I heard of that. You know we have a thread on Zouk called Zouk: anyone tried it?
Perhaps you can share your experiences with that dance? I'm interested and I'm sure that MadamSamba will be excited as well as she has taken some classes in that.

Back to topic. Great to get more info. on rueda. The people in Ithaca use the videos from the salsalovers.com website, and I like the way we do the moves. That's all I have on the videos. And speaking of rueda it was hinted that I might be invited to join the performance group tonight!! :D Just the thought sends thrills down my spine. :) (Couldn't help it!! [shrug] Wry :) )

Actually Kizomba is an Angolan dance but the rhythm is the same as "Zouk love" music. Some of the most popular singers are from Cabo Verde and they have their own style of Zouk music there, so they call it Cap-Zouk.

I think in the French Antilles they dance in a different way than Africans do. I've never been to Martinica or Guadalupe so I have not witnessed it first hand, but people told me that they dance mostly moving their hips VERY close to their partners, without moving around a lot. It is a very sensual dance.

Here in Portugal we have a lot of people from Angola and Cabo-Verde and they dance in a different way: really good dancers do some nice steps that are reminiscent of Argentine Tango.

I would love to hear about MadamSamba's experiences. What kinds of steps did you learn MadamSamba?

Wellcome Casino!

Did someone mention Kizomba? I love this dance! :) It´s very popular here in Portugal. They usually play around 5-6 songs per night at the local salsa clubs. It´s more popular than Bachata, Merengue or Cha Cha Cha. Definitely worth learning. 8)
