Can some-one help me out with the timing on this video please?
Reverse turn and swivel - tango

I saw it and thought ' fantastic, just what we're doing - now I can get the timing right'. Then when I played it I hear QQS QQS, it gets to the swivel and no commentary. :headwall:

In class no-one could agree whether it was QQ or S on the swivel or quite what the timing was after. Frankly I don't much care at this stage whether it's seen as 2 quicks or 1 slow just as long as I know how much music it take up!

I can sort of hear them announce the timing.... the swivel is slow. The timing after the swivel is QQ, but no weight is taken on the 2nd quick, so you could sort of call it a S, but to create the proper Tango action it's better to think QQ in your brain (step&turn).

Wow. That looks a LOT like an Argentine tango pattern that we do but at about 3 seconds into the clip, the lady would do a gancho, then I do a gancho, then she does a gancho and we resolve after an ocho. Didn't see the woman doing a cruzada though except maybe at the very, very end of the clip. Interesting! I'll have to watch this a few times.

Nucat - slow down. All those big words - you are frightening me - lol.

So the swivel itself would be a S (and a QQ). Do you know what it is they are doing after that?

Edit: sorry that wasn't very clear.

So the lady's left foot comes forward and through on the slow? What actually constitutes the QQ that comes after? Would that be the swivelling L foot 'landing' and the next step with the right? I'm not sure how the step actually ends?

QQSQQS ; S (swivel/fan) ; Q (swivel/fan) ; Q (foot to side) ; they don't finish, but are probably doing a QQS to finish (walk-side-close, called a "tango close" in american).

Left foot stays behind on the S swivel/fan outside partner and then comes forward for the next step (QQ) to end in closed position in front of the man.

Thanks for that. I am getting our routine so much clearer in my head. I feel like I am in with a fighting chance now :):):)

Not sure if I am missing a S though. I think we have a promenade link in ours but I'm not totally sure. My Alex Moore book says it's frequently used as an entry to the 4 step which would make sense as we definitely do something different to the video.

We have
SS Walks
QQS QQS Open Reverse Turn
SQQ Swivel
SQQ? Promenade Link (I think)
QQQQS 4 Step ending in a tap

ps What's the difference between a fan and a swivel?
