Rise and fall when walking?

This video shows his dancing with what I consider to be an example of rise and fall in salon tango. The couple stays together in their up-and-down movements, but they completely miss the pulse of Di Sarli. This is not only due to the overdubbing of the music; I saw him dance in person, and he was never with the music.

That said, the milongueros who danced in the downtown confiterias in the 1950s don't put a rise and fall in their dance.

You don't have rise and fall in tango. you have fall and rise.
I hope it is that simple.

I dance more to the music after a year of dance, and his connection is bad.
Body posture and body dynamics is bad as well.
It seems that since he is Argentinian he is qualified for tango.
I would not have classes from him.

Perhaps he's deaf?

or maybe they have the equivalent of the Game played on "I'm sorry I havnt a clue" where they turn the sound down for twenty seconds and see if the contestant can carry on singing and is in time when the music comes back up.
and thats why they applauded in the second clip.

..enjoyable to watch but not my favorite style of Tango.
Would you call it Salon? At this point I am differentiating
between three different styles of Arg.Tango; Milonguero, Salon, Nuevo.
..any (sincere) opinions on this breakdown would be appreciated.:rocker:

Think Nuevo has got nothing new, but the attitude. So I wouldn´t reservate a pigeon-hole. But, you will find as many classifications as dancers are in this forum. For me, Milonguero is the style of the 30th, Salón the one of the 40th, and Nuevo is the style that reflects the music of the 60th. Besides, there are two systems of holding: parallel and V-embrace. And there are two systems of walking: flexed and straight. Put them together, and you will have all sorts of style variations.

Concerning your first question. I would call it Villa Urquiza. Alejandro (excuse me) looks and dances much older than he actually is. Hope he gets younger the longer he will dance.

Yes, I would say influenced by Villa Urquiza style. Worth noting that the place where they are dancing is in Villa Urquiza.

hi tangobro, think he got all of this rise and fall stuff from Carlos Perez . I miss the more smooth and gliding way of moving and turning that is so typical for unique Finito Rivera and the Urquiza style, otherwise.

I really like his smooth movements. It's something I aspire to be able to do (although I'll likely never reach his skill level).

The only thing I could possibly fault him on is that I would have liked a little more energy for that particular song.

Re the energy, this is why I incessantly defer against most musicality classes. You are correct in stating, "...that I would have liked a little ..." His is not wrong. The musicality is simply different.

Oooh, beautiful! I'm with...someone...in wishing there had been a bit more energy to it, but it was gorgeous all the same. She's got some beautiful feet...*sigh*...it just reminds me of how not pretty my feet are. One of these days..

You are (of course) 100% correct. He is expressing his feelings, not mine.

BTW, I like this guy's style so much, that I looked for some other videos of his. Here is one that I like even better (probably because his interpretation matches my feelings on how it should be done).

He did the Rulos fine there, didn´t he? But, as I said above, he could let himself go a bit more. He looks so funneled.
