Who's going? I'm having dreams about packing my bags. Going a little nuts I think.

Hey check out the workshop lineup: http://www.canadasalsacongress.com/workshop.htm and make recommendations for me. I'm realllllly interested in the musicality stuff and body movement. I want to know what workshops have the most value... which will have the most content I can take home with me and really change my dancing for the better? I want to stay away from just learning new patterns for the most part. and who are really effective instructors? Any strong recommendations for who I should hunt down for a private if time and money allow?

I'm not going to this Congress (although I may keep it in mind for next year), but I noticed three familiar instructors/couples-Ismael Otero, Hacha y Machete and Ana and Joel Massicot. They're all teaching turn patterns, something you said you weren't interested in. However, Ana is an amazing stylist and will give you lots of hints about how to add on flair to any move. If you're interested in body movement and styling and have the cash, I'd strongly suggest taking a private from her. She's easily one of my favorite dancers to watch, and she is a master at body isolations. Burju (of Hacha y Machete) is a great stylist as well. Ismael-well, you simply have to take a class from the Million Moves Man. Amazing dancer!

I actually considered this congress... but alas, it was not going to work. The flight was a bit too expensive and it would cost me too many days off work. So I'm going to a salsa weekend in Spain instead.

I went to Hacha y Machete's workshop at Bognor. It was advertised as partnerwork class in the programme, but they had done one partner work already the day before so they changed it to a rhythm and movement class instead, which suited me better. It was really good and great fun -- I ended up buying Burju's DVD at the end of the class because I wanted more of it. I'm sure you'll love it too so don't miss it.
