Running club anyone?

most disturbing sight today...the sun was shining, great weather, I was at my favorite hiking/running reserve and happened upon a graceful white egret. It was strangling a field mouse, and then swallowed it whole after the poor thing stopped struggling
:shudder:

flip side, saw two calves break through the fence and were eating the grass close to the trail, very picturesque aww moment :)
Seems like an interesting day full of wildlife.

This thread is making me feel guilty!
Hmmm ... which reminds me, need to start running again asap. Weighed myself the other day. Up over 180 again, bummer, I've been too lethargic over the winter. I've only been over 180 once before and managed to get things back down in the mid 170's.

Ayuh, hear my runnin sneakas callin my name.

having trouble ramping back to my normal schedule, I feel relatively out of shape. an blame on the bad weather tho

Well I'm not back to running yet. Been doing some walking with my SO and we sneak an occasional jog into the runs now, so it won't be long. I hope. ;)

Actually went for a short jog with housemate and dog in park for her b'day last Friday. May even make a habit of doing it. ;-)

good for you :) I'm slowing getting up there myself, been doing a lot of other activities (like yoga) but I've started running unpaved trails first, usually 1-2 miles
....i think i might be ready to tackle the hardest trail today, if only just to get my running endurance back up

My SO and I have been walking this year for quite awhile now. We started back to ouor running on and off until this past Sunday. Now it is up to three days in a row of running!

Good for everyone who tries. Once it becomes a habit, or more like an addiction, you will find that you cannot miss more than a day or two in a row without real pangs. Kind of like some of you and dancing. It is just something you have to do.
My son ran a marathon in Green Bay on Sunday. This was his second one, if he does one more, he will tie me (for numbers not for speed, he can really RUN!)

I have always hated running. But about a year and a half ago, I started getting into it. I would enjoy running about 2 miles 2x/week. I felt like it was the best cardio workout... got my heart pumping and got me sweating more than anything ever has.

Unfortunately, I found that it was too high impact for me. My chronic lower back pain got the best of me. I found that every single time I ran, my back was in very bad shape the next morning.

So now I'm back to lower impact cardio, and once again, I only run when chased.

It is really hard for me to go from nice spring weather to the first really hot day of the season. Tuesday it was in the upper 80s and awfully humid for May and it was a tough run. I am going out of town for five days so that means morning runs when it will be cooler.

Yeah. I have that problem, too. The first couple really hot days of the year make me sick -- really sick. Nauseated, overheated. Generally blech. Then, after a couple days of suffering, I get over it. I never have figured out why. :?

been doing 2-3x per week, although not all long distances due to other activities (dance classes, pilates, yoga, salsa :) )

have done 2 days in a row so far, this evening will make 3

I just LOVE doing the shorter non-paved routes lately, they are so scenic.
The other day at miday, I ran around this ~1.5-mile trail around a lake with clumps of trees, the sound of silence, periodically punctured by the sound of ducks splashing and quacking. And all around there's this panoramic view of green hills and mountains :D
much more interesting than the paved paths with cars everywhere :)
And yesterday, at the nearby mountaineous hiking trail, I saw a snake crossing the path ahead, in addition to the plethora of bold squirrels, and cows across the fence. haven't seen any deer in a while though...but I've been hearing of mountain lion sightings recently. But the view of the peninsula from up there is soooo worth it :)
