There are like a zillion threads on this subjext already. We'd hate to have to start all over again. Just a moment and I'll go dig them up.chook said:Hey guys, what do you usually wear when you go to salsa? For me, I have professional brownish pants and a colored and flowered hawaiian shirt. How about you? What is best for salsa?
Hey Chook! You really have gotten into this really intensely!chook said:Hey guys, what do you usually wear when you go to salsa? For me, I have professional brownish pants and a colored and flowered hawaiian shirt. How about you? What is best for salsa?

oh. Even then...I guess I need to figure out what makes them so special as the pics I saw did not make them seem to be so.alemana said:they are much more frequently short-sleeved.
alemana said:they are traditional and so the sentimental favorite. but in terms of concrete 'why's,' they are very lightweight and generously cut to allow ease of movement.
not for everybody of course - in fact your gringo salsero can look a little presumptuous, but only a little, because while they are 'traditional' they are not terribly distinctive - but many of us love them.
Then you'd probably look better in one of those synthetic-fiber body-hugging shirts that emphasize the chest. Love those on guys! :raisebro:Josh said:coco, as an update on this, I've not bought any guayaberas. They are comfortable but I really want something that is cut a little slimmer through the waist. We were saying how it looks good on people of all sizes, and this must be because of a more full cut, a more straight line down from the shoulders to the waist. Well, my upper body is more V-shaped (than U-shaped?) so I want something that will emphasize this!
I must say this though--I love all the pockets on the guayaberas... quite handy for keeping stuff in!![]()
