I'm going to be in Munich in the period 22-28 July 2007.

I would love to know more about Salsa in this city.

And meet fellow DFers, of course.

Hi!

I live in Munich, therefore you can ask me...
In case you can handle some german words you could check out the "Veranstaltungskalender" under wwww.salsa-munich.de
Which style/music do you prefer for your salsa? Then I could give you some advices where to go... I personally prefer Cuban Music and Style but most locations in Munich are more LA influenced...

Dear Rosella,

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, my German doesn't go beyond Jawohl... :)

I checked out salsa-munich website, but what I really wanna know is when the "hard core salseros" go out.

I am primarily an LA style dancer, but I can handle on2 as well (and love both styles).

Let me know what nights are best and where I should go.

ok, here is my recommendation: (sorry for any bad english...)

for every Sunday and Wensday evening: in case it's not too cold and no rainy day go to Odeonsplatz, behind you find a park called "Hofgarten" in the center of this park you can find a nice "private" open air salsa party with no drinks to buy, music is kind of too quiet because it's kind of improvised. But you really should go there at least once. The atmosphere there is worth it! It starts at about 19:30 and ends at 23:00 or 23:30 and takes place every. There might be maybe 50-150 people around.

On Sunday, 22.07. is a special event as open air:
"Salsa Festival 2007 auf der Praterinsel - Mi Solar"
It takes place every year at a place called "Praterinsel" closed to "Deutsches Museum" near the Isar River. It's mainly for Cuban Dancer and there will be a Liveband playing cuban Music. But as this place is very nice also LA dancers will go there, the band starts at 20:00 and its 13 Euro entrancehttp://www.salsa-munich.de/salsa-ve...etails&ecEventId=2039&ecDate=1185055200&sess=

Monday, 23.07. unfortunately it's quiet in Munich mondays... there is only one place: Salsa in Hotel Bayerischer Hof Nightclub. Nice place, entrance free, expensive drinks, but I only would go there in case you bring your own dancepartner because it will be not too crowded... adress: Promenadeplatz 2-6

Tuesday, 24.07. you have the following opportunitys:
SALSABOR Party (Party of a very good LA school) with free worshops first and then party... http://www.salsa-munich.de/salsa-ve...etails&ecEventId=1434&ecDate=1185228000&sess==
3,50 Euro, adress: SALSABOR Dance Academy, Schellingstr. 109a, Basement

or you go to the Salsadisco PALACIO2:http://www.palacio2.de/

OR: 2Rooms http://www.salsa-munich.de/salsa-veranstaltungen-kalender/index.php? at Karlsplatz Stachus: Neuhauserstr. 47, Entrance is at Herzog-Wilhelm-Str. 8 (am Stachus), 5 Euro

Wensday 25.07.
bad weather? --> Max Emanuel Brauerei, nice Salsa Disco but be prepared to find a crowded and hot place there. adress: Adalbertstr. 33 (schwabing) 7 Euro (you get one drink bonus over 3 euro for it) www.max-emanuel-brauerei.de

good weather --> Hofgarten (as mentioned above...)

thursday 26.07.:
there is a party from a dance school every thursday: TanzHaus Emotion
Albert-Rosshaupter-Str. 35, U6 am Harras http://www.salsa-munich.de/salsa-ve...details&ecEventId=1614&ecDate=1185400800&sess=

friday 27.07.:
Max-Emanuel-Brauerei (same as wensday)

or Palacio2 (unfortunately fridays not too many people go to palacio , saturday would be much better...)http://www.salsa-munich.de/salsa-ve...etails&ecEventId=1810&ecDate=1185487200&sess= entrance: 5 euro, in the "optimol" party area, Friedenstr. 10 close to Ostbahnhof

Saturday (still in Munich?)
Palacio2 (see friday)
or
Circulo (that's where I might be around), nice club, mainly Cuban but also LA People come around because of the nice place, it's close to Palacio2, so you could have a short look... and it's also opened on Tuesdays...
www.circulo.de 5 euro http://www.salsa-munich.de/salsa-ve...details&ecEventId=1906&ecDate=1185573600&sess=
adress: Rosenheimer Str. 139

HAVE FUN IN MUNICH!

nearest:
SALSABOR Party, Max-Emanuel-Brauerei and
Skyline (Adress: http://www.galalatina.de/ Leopoldstr. 82 )
(forgot to mention it above... they have Salsa every Thursday and Sunday, people go there pretty late in the evening)

just some Subway stops away you are in the Center of Munich where you find "Hofgarten" + "2Rooms" + "Bayerischer Hof"

more to the East is
Circulo and Palacio2 (but also very easy to reach with every S-Bahn train to Ostbahnhof)
