Salsa with a hat? I know lots of guys who dance who wear hats. Seriously though, I've never heard of the two words being used together like that except if its the name of a website or dance company. However I just put "Salsa Sombrero" into google and it got no useful hits. So I'm guessing you're talking about the Cuban Casino/Salsa/Rueda move called 'Sombrero'.

I'm guessing it is the rueda sombrero that you are talking about. When done while dancing with only one partner the move is done slightly differently, but it is basically the same.

Sombrero in Salsa

The Salsa Sombrero move that we've learnt to use in (On1) Salsa here goes like this:

The leader initiates the Follower's Rt turn with their arms crossed (Rt over Lt). In one motion and with arms still up in the air as the Follower is completing the turn, drop the arms on each others shoulders. The leaders Rt arm will be extended back around her head to reach her Rt shoulder while holding her Rt hand and the Followers Lt arm will be extended while holding the Leaders Lt hand. The move will start on the turn on 5 and will end on 1.
One could release from the move using a CBL, where the Leader releases his Lt hand hold and places it on the Followers Rt shoulder to initiate an Shoulder inside turn CBL on 5.
