Saw this note posted on my front door this morning

I find it funny how quick people in society like to label people as "losers."

I'm a 35 year old male bachelor. I live alone and I have a cat. Besides ballroom, I enjoy playing music. I was practicing guitar late last night. I play in a band and I was practicing for a rehearsal that I have today. Next weekend we are doing a gig at a bar. I may have turned my amp a little louder than usual because this was the first complaint I've gotten for being too loud. Saw this note hanging on my front door this morning.

Funny stuff. Especially with the assumptions that I was playing guitar hero. Guess this person just assumed a guy in his mid 30's living alone and who is home alone on a saturday night MUST be a loser and must be playing video games. After all, he should be hanging out with some young lady.

Funny how we make assumptions about people we don't know and immediately peg them as losers based upon their relationship status or stuff on the surface. I'm extra motivated now to play well with my band for next week's show.
 
I am an Asian male. Bachelor. 35 years old. I live in a condo complex. I have no idea which tenant on my floor posted this.

But whoever did, I'm sure they've seen me before. I find it offensive that this person immediately assumed I must have been playing guitar hero rather than a real guitar. And that I'm a loser for spending my saturday night alone practicing guitar.

It's sunday and I just came back from a 3 hour rehearsal with my band. We're playing a show next weekend. That's why I was playing guitar late on a saturday night.

I wonder if the same note would have happened to a caucasian male who is living with his girlfriend.
 
Non musicians have no idea what musicians go through they just like the music, dancing, bars, drinking, entertainment, don't even waste your time. The best most supportive neighbor's I ever had were poor apartment neighborhoods even as loud as drums can be if I practiced at the same time daily and not too long. Repeating the same licks over and over I know drove them nuts! Good luck! I don't have a place to practice at all right now without the cops being called...been there too often. I've even went way out in the woods or desert set up my drums before.
 
Get wise by getting familiar with the noise ordinance before you get fined, many in the enforcement section, allow police to haul you off to jail. Its thier call. I passed db test before and still lost in court, had to pay a step fine... Musicians don't do well in court. Whomever wrote that note has a low IQ, be careful. Disturbing the peace is not smart either. Find a studio if you want to blast it. I know headphones can suck but it's better than fines, jail, evictions.
 
1. Wow they have good handwriting.
2. I will never understand why people think they can get cooperation or behavior modification by insulting someone. Not in this day and age. Heck, even the "kill them with kindness" approach is hit or miss.
3. Having said that, and speaking as someone who has knocked on doors and called the police on loud music, please don't subject other people to this in a residential situation. Especially late at night. Especially in shared wall housing.
 
Why assume they have any clue what you look like? I have lived in large apartment complexes and never saw some of my nearby neighbors.

+1 on posting a note on your door, but I think it should be an open letter to all. Say something like, "Sorry for playing my guitar loudly Saturday night. I'll use headphones from now on. I'm playing at Club Awesome <insert date> <insert time>, please come see me play.

Do it in big enough letters they can read it easily as they pass by. It'll get you points with more people than the complainer. Who knows, you might get more fans for your band!
