Schemas for choreography?

Is there any such thing as a standard or well known/often used schema/form/template for creating dance choreographies?

If so, are these general, or tailored to a certain type of dance?

Not my bailiwick, but I do know that there are a couple of types of standard notation for logging choreography...

Not sure if there's an animal similar for partner dancing. I know that in ballroom we have lots of nice acronyms for stuff and abbreviations to write down a sequence or amalgamation of steps, though.
