This is going to be my first competition; I'm dancing the pro/am silver scholarship standard. I'm nervous already, but also excited! If I can just get over how painfully obvious or pointly targeted my frame issues became at my last lesson...I just might have fun. Since I live in the general area, it's going to be fun to watch all the local dancers I know and recognize turning out and showing off their stuff, and I also look forward to seeing all the dancers dedicated enough to travel some distance to get here.

I may be competing, and probably just bronze standard if I do. Have to make the decision quickly!

i'll be there, representing vancouver! competing bronze/silver/prenovice/novice latin/standard! really excited...

I'll be there. Pro-Am.....Pre-Bronze, Beg Bronze, and Int. Bronze Standard.

Getting nervous but excited for this! There's a major change I need to make in the way I dance per a great informational lesson on Monday w/ my pro's partner, but I don't think it's all going to come together in time. Oh well; just do my best and enjoy it and try not to care too much about the results! I'm sure I'll probably be seeing you, dancelvr...though I won't recognize you, since all the pro-am standard events seem to be Saturday morning. I think my pro and a friend from my studio are dancing some of your events, so I will probably be watching. Looking forward to a fun weekend (Saturday for me)! I just need to stop taking it so seriously...it will be the death of me.

If tickets weren't so darn expensive I'd be there the whole weekend, but so it is. I think most of the syllabus amateur events are on Sunday. Too bad, I would have loved to see the amateur events, and you ash sk8s!

Know what you mean! I would LOVE to be up there for the whole weekend and just watch lots and lots of dancing!

Adding a little from afar . . . according to the placements, a long anticipated event has occured:

Placement 1:
At IGB last weekend, Simeon & Kora were still in the Amateur ranks, placing 5th in Standard

Placement 2:
OCM shows at the Seattle Star Ball this weekend Simeon & Kora took 1st in Pro Rising Star Standard.

So, assuming all the reporting and interpretations are correct . . . congratulations to Simeon and Kora!

The reporting is correct, and I have to say that of what I have seen so far, Kora by far has the most presence of any dancer there. This was their pro-debut, and Simeon's students took advantage by keeping him very busy with Pro-Am events. It would have been very interesting to see them compete in Latin.
