Seen Any Good Movies Lately?

Just saw District 9 yesterday. Great movie.

"So, do you think they're going to make a sequel?"

"They already did."

"What, really?

"Yeah. It was called Independence Day."

-conversation between my friends and I, while leaving the theater

:uplaugh: I was confused!!!!

I saw The Time Traveler's Wife last week and thought it was really well done. I did however read the book first and thought the book was much better. But it is still a movie I would recommend seeing.

Watched 'I dood it' last night from good old 1943...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0036025/

There's a brilliant, infact genius lariat-skipping/western rope dance you just gotta see!

Infact watch it here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVgILXZvnxQ&feature=related

Story is pretty good in this one and Red Skelton is fun to watch. It's a shame they decided to borrow two dance numbers from her other films (dream sequence and end dance part)... would've been nice to see some new numbers...

Still, great to watch :D

Una lucertola con la pelle di donna OR... A Lizard in a Woman's Skin

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067361/

OK, not for everyone and there is one certain scene a lot of people would probably not be able to stomach... the infamous 'dog' scenes - even the producers landed up in court as people believed the SFX were real... and to me I couldn't tell if it was fake or not.

Anyway, the film... I really liked it, great story.... if you like 'who dunnits' with a bit of horror/atmosphere thrown in....

Very arty too... not aged much over the years imo... okay, maybe the music has... :) (1971 release)

Saw Inglourious Basterds last night and LOVED it! It was perfectly cast, well acted and very entertaining! Surprisingly it wasn't the gorefest that I expected from QT like in his other films and more than anything this film's dialogue is just incredibly well written. I also can't believe how well it was cast. Yes, Brad Pitt's the big name attached to the film but several very talented, and perhaps lesser known, actors in this ensemble get their time in the spotlight. Particularly Michael Fassbender as an English soldier (you may remember him from 300) and especially Melanie Laurent. Between Star Trek, District 9, The Hangover and now this, it has been a very good summer for movies!

12 Monkies.

Admittedly, I've seen it before and haven't seen it again for more than a few years now, but I recommended to a friend tonight. One of the last songs played at the dance tonight was an Argentine Tango and it reminded me of a recurring problem I have in AT class. Whenever the music plays in class, it keeps reminding me of that movie.

Anyone else share my problem with AT music?

"Beyond the Darkness" last night.

80's (well, 1979 to be precise)... horror at its erm, absolute bonkers! Lots of tomato ketchup. Think I'll go for a musical tonight to even the balance

Caught Surrogates earlier tonight with some friends. Didn't love it and didn't hate it but it kept my attention. I thought they could've delved more into the social commentary about how people detach themselves from reality and living but overall the film wasn't bad. Probably worth a matinee if you're interested or waiting 4 months for DVD.

Honolulu (1939) last night...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0031442/

This is really really really good, the dancing is just  by you know who! Silly story but we like those! :D

10/10 + a cherry on top.

Got all Eleanor Powell's films now which are available apart from 'George White's 1935 Scandals' which doesn't seem to be out there :(
