Seen Any Good Movies Lately?

Silent Night, Deadly Night Part III - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098331/

I've never seen the previous two films prior to this. Bad mistake as I know what happens to the killer santa in his final days!

Anyway, the film. Not bad, not good either. Found it rather dull! Well made though... a little on the daft side - Ricky is a kind of frankenstein now that doctors have reconstructed his brain... so he has a see-thru bowl on his head.. you can't take it seriously.. the things movie studios will do to keep a franchise going.... now there are parts 4 & 5 to go

As far as Irish movies go, I love Once--a modern-style musical (as today's brand of musicals go) from a few years ago (2006-2007). It won the Oscar for Best Song. It's bittersweet and romantic--and the songs are great...

Glad you liked it, Ray. Wife and I saw "Once" when it was first released. Once we'd seen it, we thought once was once too many times! The story is OK, but we found it boring, boring, boring -- especially the music. Can't understand how it could have been awarded the Best Song Oscar. A computer could generate a song with more musicality and verve. [Just our opinion.]

Will watch "Breaker Morant" tonight. Have seen the original theater release several times, but this is the "masterworks edition" from NetFlix.

Toy Story 3 has been on my saved DVD list on Netflix for months. :)

Tonight, as mentioned in another thread, was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Lliked it, cute.

Tried to watch Distrct 9 earlier, but didnt' work, netflix had issues

Mother's Day (1980) - really bizarre revenge flick with a twist at the end!
Silent Night, Deadly Night 5 (1991) - Pretty good I thought, best one so far (still to watch Parts 1 & 2)

Saw Karate Kid last night. Awesome! I am a big fan of the old ones but this one almost did just as good. I mean come on its Jackie Chan!!!

Yep, totally agree! It was great to see him showcase his acting skills since that's something American audiences aren't familiar with unless you watch his earlier work. I *do* wish they had changed the title for the US release but that's pretty much my only complaint. In Asia and other countries it goes by the proper name of The Kung Fu Kid.

Also saw The A-Team later that day (double feature with friends) and LOVED IT! Hope they make it a franchise and make a sequel.
