Shoe Addiction

I had a shoe binge earlier this year so I'm trying to hold myself back, even though there's this really cute pair of pink kitten heeled courts with little buckles on them that just keep begging me to buy them...

...and as for the dance shoes, I just keep opening the Supadance online catalogue. I can't help myself. I have promised myself I'll treat myself to a nice pair of latin sandals when I get out of the beginners' salsa class and into the improvers and that's looking like it's only a couple of weeks away...

AAaaaarrgh! I am such a shoe floozy!

I try to spread my shoe binge out a little...it's sort of like being on a diet. On a good diet you're allowed to indulge occasionally in "sinful" foods so you won't end up having a whole tub of ice-cream in one sitting. I do that to my shoe addiction, too  It's easier on my budget!

I usually buy 3-4 pairs at a time. It is impossible to find anything in my size AND attractive(and under $100!) here, so if I am ever back in the states, the sky's the limits! 8)

Yeah. I have friends from other countries who plan a trip to the US once or twice a year. When they get here, they buy everything from toiletries, to electronics, to clothes -- at least a year's worth -- at decent prices.

I do believe that the US has the best quality & prices for leather shoes anywhere! I bought some very well-made leather sandals in Germany(in the pre-euro days), but they weren't as inexpensive as shoes in the states...

I agree. You can find some very, very good values in the US, if you time your visit correctly (around clearance season) and take a US native along (to let you know which stores are rip-offs.)

When I lived in Orlando, there were quite a few "discount" stores that catered to tourists at quite a mark-up from what natives paid. The tourists loved those places, since they had no point of refernce. So they paid twenty or thirty percent more than they had to. Still cheaper than Europe, South America, or Asia. But too much, from my (parochial) point of view.

It pays to network. 8)

I have heard of this regarding Hawaii. Clothes are so expensive there!
They do the 'fly to LA to shop' thing. We truly are blessed here in the shopping arena! I really miss South Coast Plaza !
I'd even settle for Nordstrom Rack!

Hawaii is generally more expensive than the continental US as most things have to be flown in. Foodstuffs are another pricey example. I think the sales tax is considerably lower than in California, though(8%, 8.5% in San Francisco last time I was there!).

Weird...I do that when I go back to Asia. I stock up on food stuff, clothing (especially accessories and jewellery). The only thing I find really cheap in the States are TV/computers and brand-name clothing from factory outlets. :D Those I relish!

Anything is cheaper in Asia, just not in JAPAN! Shoes are not available in Asia over size 8 in cute, fashionable styles...

Me too. If I would buy three or four at a time, I would know I couldn't buy anymore for the rest of the year. Shopping for shoes is just too much fun to do it only once or twice a year.

Yeah. I meant Japan. But good old grammar rules (parallellism, in this case) still apply. If it's Europe and South America, it can't be Japan. It has to be Asia.

Ironically, I can never find good Men's shoes here in the US. Most of my shoes come mail order from England. The poor value of the dollar has really been hurting my shoe purchases.

I have friends in Italy who, every so often, send a care package of the most beautiful shoes. The leather is incredible.

Ya gotta love having friends and relatives all over the planet. 8)
