Is there a nickname for the feather, reverse, three step combination in slow foxtrot?
Ask questions, meet dancers, and be part of the conversation.
Not necessarily. There can be other reasons for not knowing the names of certain figures.less sophisticated dancers
Could someone please post a YouTube link that would allow some (far) less sophisticated dancers to see an example of what it is you are talking about?
I have spent tons of $$'s on lessons on this very combo, just so much there and to learn. Geez, just the heel turn alone.
Sometime I got very frustrated with myself because after lessons and lessons, I still can't quite get the feather right. Sometime I wonder will it be more effective to spend more time to practice (keep getting it wrong) or spend more time on lesson (teacher keep pointing out the same thing).
Feather - reverse turn - feather finish - three steps is sort of like my opening in chess. I know there are various fallaways I can do after feather, but they require mental note that I want to do something else after the feather.
Iheard that there was a practice studio in London, where many students practiced what they learned from their coaches. One day they saw Mirko and Alessia entering the room and starting to practicing. Other people expected some fancy steps, but they practice only these steps, and left. This story indicatesd to me how important this routin is.Heres a simple exercise, break it down in sections,, First.... Down LOD Needs long floor ) Feather and 3 consecutively and continuously..
Part 2.... Rev. turn and Feather end. ( commence D.C ) repeat and again etc.
Isolate the technical components ( Footwork, CBM etc ) and ONLY concentrate on each one separately...
Ive mentioned this in the past.. I had a very good friend, back in the day, who disappeared.. after about a Yr, he was back on the scene.. I asked him if he had quit.. his reply was ( will never forget this ) No, Ive been working with Charles ( Thieaubault ) on a Feather and three...

The Baricchis show how to do this routine in his Bible DVD using balance, rotation & counter rotation of the body (strangely, they never uses the word CBM or CBMP), motion, weight transfer, and when to use Legato, Rubato, Staccato actions.
Unfortunately, however, I have been swimming a half way across a lake and I can't turn around and go back now.
