So what are you wearing?

Would love to hear what you like to wear to milongas and practicas, specially around outfits and footwear. But even practical things like fans, eyeglass holders, socks.

What brands of shoes do you like? How did you find them? Do you wear different things to practicas than to a milonga? Are there any favorite brands you discovered? Any special tips on textures or fabrics?

Three pairs of shoes by Balanceo (custom-made with uppers a size larger than soles to accommodate my wide feet); three pairs of tango trousers bought in Buenos Aires; a dozen identical white linen shirts from a tailor in Hong Kong who visits London regularly for measurements and fittings; ten bow ties bought from several different companies.

I carry a large fan bought from Etsy in my back pocket for use between songs, and a huge number of followers have told me they wish every leader did the same.

Vidadance split sole dance shoes
or Monsieur Pivot split sole dance sneakers (with interchangeable suede/leather soles)

Occasionally, for al fresco use, some dance trainers with split sole and pivot spot.

Socks - bamboo or cotton

Beyond that, whatever is smart and comfortable. Rarely, if ever, a jacket. I run hot.

Electric fan (if it's hot).

Spectacle case

No difference between practica and milonga, except maybe shoes depending on floor. Rare occasions - shorts (but it has to be too hot for long trousers

Avoid the wrong types of synthetics!

What brands of shoes do you like?
Bloch Amalgam white
How did you find them?
Saw them in a shoe store.
Do you wear different things to practicas than to a milonga?
No. I try to appear the same at milongas, prácticas as at daylight and in everyday life.
Are there any favorite brands you discovered?
I use Dickies original 874 workwear. They are wide enough to wear orthoses underneath.
Any special tips on textures or fabrics?
No.

The perennial question. <g>

I dress up a bit. Not a suit but dress slacks, dress shirt, often a bandana, and a vest. Shoes, mostly Madame/Monsieur Pivot or Werner Kern. Pants are either cotton or lightweight wool in winter, shirts always cotton. That's it, no accessories.

For lessons and Practicas, I often wear flats and trousers as I frequently required to lead. At Milongas I ususally wear a skirt, hopefully something swishy and heels. Regina is a favourite fit for small, narrow feet. For festivals I get fancier... Bright flowers seem to attract attention!
