So who's going to the USDSC?

So, I just realized that the USDSC* is only a week away (:shock:) and just wanted to know who's going to be there...

I'll be there the whole time (getting in mid-morning on the 7th) myself. Anyone else?


* Note: USDSC = United States DanceSport Championships, now held in Hollywood Beach, FL, where many of the Pro & Pro/Am national titles are contested. This year's dates = Sep. 7-11, including hosting the World Pro Latin title for 2004 on the 11th.
 
Can anybody update on the hurricane situation. I notice that a message has been put on the US Dancesport website. As i am in the UK - we do not get full details. Is Hollywood, Fl likely to get hit and if so when?

I thought I heard that the hurricane was heading toward St. Petersburg, FL, which is on the Gulf coast side. Hollywood is on the Atlantic side, and much further south, so hopefully it will all be okay. Or maybe I heard wrong. Try www.weather.com
 
I had a look at the link and it projects Hurricane Frances hitting eastern coast on saturday morning - not good for the comp then!

THE EAST COAST OF FLORIDA IS NOW UNDER A HURRICANE WARNING WHICH MEANS HURRICANE CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS. THE HOTEL IS UNDER MANDATORY EVACTUATION AND UNDER THE BEST CASE CONDITIONS WILL REOPEN TO TAKE GUEST AT NOON ON SUNDAY. ANYONE PLANNING TO ARRIVE EARLIER SHOULD ALTER THEIR PLANS ACCORDINGLY. THE US DANCE SPORT CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE STILL BEING PLANNED TO RUN AS SCHEDULED. WE WILL ATTEMPT TO UPDTATE THIS INFORMATION AT LEAST DAILY SO YOU CAN KEEP INFORMED OF THE CHAMPIONSHIPS.
 
My heart goes out to you Floridians. You certainly have had more than your share lately. It looks like the whole eastern coast of Florida is going to get whacked.

It'll be interesting to see what the organizers do....I'm guessing there'll e no refunds.

As far as the whole hurricane thing, my heart and prayers go out to everyone in FL... certainly doesn't seem like a great time to be living there. Chances are that the USDSC will run as scheduled since it daoesn't start until Tuesday... guess we'll just have to wait and see. :(
 
Seems sensible to run if they can - they may be a fair few competitors down though!
That's assuming the hotel doesn't take a battering!

All Floridians - my thoughts are with you.
 
I have a business meeting scheduled in West Palm Beach on Tuesday evening, and then I am planning to be at USDC on Friday and Saturday. There is just this little problem with Frances. :cry:

I'm told that if a Category 4 of this size hits that it will be like a war zone, and everything will be shut down. I am praying about this. I hope everything will be okay. Maybe the hurricane will change course or weaken.
 
If none of the World champions show up, I'll be competing with my wife in the World Latin Championships. Otherwise, I'll just be a spectator. :lol:
 
Just wanted to give this a bump...

What do you think will happen if Florida gets hit pretty hard?
Can USDC still go on?
Will many people cancel their trips?
