Social Dancing in NYC

The girlfriend and I will be in New York the weekend after next and are looking for social dancing the evening of Saturday, Jan. 10. So far most of what we've found are small studio parties or out in Jersey; we were hoping for something a bit more than the usual studio affair but will be limited in our ability to travel during this trip. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Dance New York used to have socials at their old location--not sure about new one, about 54 & Broadway.

If you go to www.nyusadance.org, once there click on "NY USA Dance" and then from the drop down menu click on "News." That will bring you to our weekly newsletter and at the bottom there is always a list of what social dance events are happening in NYC that weekend. Hope this helps and have a great time in NY.

Saturday night is generally not a night for dance studio socials in NYC, though Stepping Out Studios will be having a milonga (Argentine Tango party) that day.

For the most central list of social dancing in NYC, check out http:// njoydancing dot home dot att dot net/. If you can't decipher the site address, just Google "naomi joy to the dance world." You might also check out the website for NY USA Dance (it's those three words strung together followed by dot org), which lists resources for social dance as well as studios in the area which might be having socials, under the "Community" tab.
