ok quality is still bad from filming in dark clubs but they're better than before :P

some footage i took last weekend, not my favorite/best dance moments but it's hard to actually stop and take footage when you and everybody else is having a good time ;)

So, try these links

- my favorite cos it's unscripted, unrehearsed, and kinda goofy :D just having fun playing with a great song.
To see this clip better select a wider screen at the bottom (like 800), also increase the monitor brightness

- @social last weekend, one of the rare times i'll ever wear heels (and my clumsiness shines thru lol) so i'm not doing much extra like i usually do hah
lean your head to the right, it was taken sideways. I like the silohuette look of this clip

- @ same social, this time with comfortable jazz shoes :) i look so tom-boyish lol

:( can't see a think... just some black figure in black surroundings.. i distinguish her form the environment by her arms passing some lights in the background....
only thing i can see is that you're not offbeat..

lol right, i darkened the club for that very reason

I'll increase brightness but the clip is still jerky from the DV capture software :? so I need to try smaller files or get someone pro to do it for me ;)

i don't know what kind of videoediting capabilities you have - try to find something similar to "adjusting Levels" first before you adjust the intensity/contrast.

With adjusting levels you can darken the darkest spots and lighten the lightest spots. And the thing in between is the greypoint. Try to move these three buttons until your image get better.

Then use the brightnes/contrast switch

Then use somethingh similar to "unsharp mask" (it don't make it unsharp) or "sharpen up".

These three steps - in sequence - makes a big diffrence.

Sometimes you need to pull these switches a lot in to get anything out of a dark image.

yes those clips were from my first try

I tried a night-capture function but it actually slows down the images to about 1/2x, which is no good, I also tried adding "brightness" but probably not enough because when the footage is converted and compressed it becomes even worse quality than the original.

I need to experiment with the features some more...

Hey Africana --

Even after the edits, the first two were still too dark. :( I kinda got tired of tilting my head for the third one, so I couldn't watch all of that one.

I did watch all of the last one without any problems. One thing that I thought was very interesting was how the leader switched from On2 to On1 somewhere around the 1:15 mark. Was there some sort of verbal exchange about making the switch, or did he just do it and you kept following him?

By the way, thanks for sharing! Look forward to more clips.....with better lighting.

yes i always talk him into dancing on2 but sometimes depending on the song he can't hear it as well, so he decided to go to on1, which was cool (I got plenty of my on2 fix for that night anyway ;) ). So basically he just started dancing on1 and I looked at him and he signaled he knew what he was doing :)

yes next time i'll read my user manual thoroughly before trying the camera :P

What camera is it? Can you set the camera to auto iris and auto focus.

I have never had any luck with the night option on cameras.

I have the JVC GR-270, it has a night-alive function that doesn't perform as expected :?
