Sponsorship letters

Ok, well San Jose is starting a Ballroom team now and i am in charge of sending out sponsorship letters to some of the local companies and stores. The problem is i have no idea how to write one of these. Does anyone have a clue on how to write this? Better yet, does anyone have an example?

If I were you, I would start out talking to some prospects in person first, and get a feel for what they are looking to hear from you. Letters may be helpful, but in my estimation they won't be nearly as effective as you and your team members going out in person, and finding out what they want, as well as what you can do for them (ex. provide pictures for their store).

I agree with DM, go in person should get you better results. Most sponsors won't agree to sponsor without meeting you in person.

Six days without a response for something promoting more dance? This crowd is slipping. ;)

I have no idea what to put in a sponsorship request. But lets look at what this is all about: You're asking business and individuals to get you money (or goods) so you can do something that for most is seen as a hobby or leisure activity.

They are going to get you something, so what are you going to give them?

For most sponsors, it's either providing advertisement of their business or making them feel good about lending a helping hand to others. Or both. So a meeting to sell your group to these business owners would do a lot to explain what the group is about and how the business might benefit from helping some some bright young adults in college. Even if all you can offer is just your group's appreciation for the help.

My 2 cents.
